DUXBURY ROTARY CLUB

BRIDGE February 10, 2016 for the meeting of Feb. 17

President Eileen and Fred made an informative presentation on how to handle hospital visits.  Some points that they made were to involve your primary care physician early and to be “admitted” to the hospital rather than be “under observation”.  If you are under observation, and then are sent to a rehab facility, the patient pays, not insurance.  When you go to a hospital, have another person go with you to help with the logistics while you are under duress.  Be aware that medical care is a business, and caring comes after.  It helps to have an “advocate” (secret word) to help deal with medical issues.  Know that if money is tight, pharmaceutical companies can be contacted and some of them will provide you with medicines at a lower cost.  (Note, this is my take on what was presented.  See Eileen or Fred for more details.)

Fred provided a card for members to sign to send to Jack O’Neil who is having health issues.

Strain the brain.  Fred had everyone write captions inspired by photos that he passed around.  All voted on the best captions.  Bob Johnson’s and Michelle’s were voted the most creative.  Then they were challenged to tell the best yarn about the worst storm that they had ever experienced.  Bob won that.  Prizes were given, yarn for Michele and wine for Bob.

SCHEDULE: Next meeting will be Feb. 17
