Rotary Meeting Minutes 4/8/15
For those of you who were unable to make it to the meeting, you were sorely missed and we hope to see you at next week’s meeting.   Below please find an update on the things we discussed.
President Fred L’Ecuyer reported that he had received a very nice thank you note from Joanne Moore, Director of the Duxbury Senior Center, for the Rotarians volunteer efforts at the half marathon event.  The Senior Center raised $20,000 for this event and it was a huge success.
We also discovered that our very own member, George Prebolis, is a former marathon runner who participated in a couple of half marathons and one all out marathon.  Kudos to George!
Michelle Conway informed us that her niece had run this race and said that it was one of the most scenic and well run road races.  She anticipates running this course again with her friends next year.
Fred also told the group that he had been in touch with Raja Jann and she is feeling very well.
Fred mentioned that he had been at the Duxbury Business Association meeting just before this meeting to promote sponsorship for the placemats drive and the duck event and this was well received.
Fred also noted that he had a conversation with Ann Antonellis.  Ann told him that her husband is not driving yet.  Cheryl Nachmann will follow up with a telephone call to Ann to see if there is an opportunity for Rotarians to help out.
John Brown, Administrative Officer at the U.S. department of Veteran’s Affairs, was our key noted speaker.  John spoke about his experiences of helping veterans through his services at Pine Street Inn and at his current job.  He offered a few suggestions for volunteer efforts.  He personally felt that mentoring veterans for job placement would be a much appreciated effort.

  • Placemat update… please be sure to contact the businesses you have been assigned.
  • Duck Daze Committee established: Fred, Bruce, Cheryl
  • Duct Tape Boat concept… Fred is trying to contact the “inventor” to see if he could help us.
Notes taken by Eileen and Fred, a thank you from Charlie.
