Steve reports that placemat ads are still coming in.  $3,800.00 has been committed but not all received.  May 1 is the extended deadline.

President Elect Fred and Bill attended the District Assembly.  Bill sat in on a membership meeting that discussed who to accept into membership.  Strive for younger members.  Retention is important.  He also attended meetings focused on global projects such as water purity and use of latrines.  Fred added that new members should be engaged by helping others.  He gave an example of a South Carolina woman whose husband had just died and to distract her from this trauma she helped give polio vaccines to her community.  This grew into giving the vaccine in the state, then country, and then the world.  This grew into the Rotary International Polio Plus project.

Bill Campbell has been chosen by Duxbury Rotary to be given the Volunteer Award at the District conference on May 3.  At the Conference, Razia and Patty Quigley will be presenting a break out session on the Afghan girl’s school.

President Elect Fred presented the results of the meetings of the 5 G Committee.  There will be four fundraisers in the 2014-2015 year including a Casino Night, Placemat Ads, Dance Night and the Duck Race.  In a hand-out he projected the funds that could be raised.  One of the causes to be funded is a “Good Neighbor” (secret) Program to help people who have temporarily had financial problems and could use funds to tide them over the difficult period.

It was voted to help the Senior Prom with a $500.00 contribution for decorations for their Spring Fling.
