Cr Prue Cutts, spoke to us on the role of women in local Government and what drove her to be part of it. Prue has a Bachelor of Science with Honours (Psychology), a Diploma in Education and a Graduate Certificate in Career Development, and has spent the majority of her career has been within the education sector as a teacher (including kinder, primary, secondary, TAFE, adult education). For almost 20 years, she worked as a vocational psychologist and as a national business development manager. She has always been active with community work, working with the organisations such as Heatherdale Community Action Group, the Heatherdale Creek Parklands Advisory Committee, the KBH Brumbies Junior Hockey Club and has volunteered across the community including the RSPCA, Box Hill Hospital and various primary schools. She told us of her council work on issues such as neighbourhood character, open spaces, youth and the elderly, community health and wellbeing, affordable housing, reducing traffic congestion on our streets, and community and sporting facilities. She painted a picture of the range of work of a Councillor and of her passion for helping people. Her enthusiasm for what she does was infectious. |
