OUR MEETING LAST WEEK
SPEAKER:
 EMMA FULU

FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE EQUALITY INSTITUTE

Bob Davis introduced Emma Fulu who had attended the same school as his daughter. Emma had been a Rotary Exchange scholar in Japan in the late nineties. (In fact, Bob told us he was introduced to all the great work carried out by Rotary as a result of hearing about Emma's Youth Exchange Program).
Post Rotary exchange, Emma completed her High School education and went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts and Commerce at University of Melbourne, followed by Honours in Gender and development at ANU. She then returned to Melbourne to complete a PhD on Gender studies.

NEWGEN
NEWGEN MAKES ITS MARK ON SPOONVILLE
from Kiel

NewGen has got its own little mascot and done a cute bit of club promotion by adding a spoon to the Bayswater Spoonville.

Bill the spoon is decked out in glow sticks, and has a QR code on him which visitors can scan that goes to NewGen's Facebook page, so they can find out more about the club.
He also has a timely message on the bottom to promote the #EndPolioNow campaign.

You can go visit Bill and check out the other spoons at the SPC Factory Sales carpark on High St in Bayswater.
LAST WEEK FOR RISE N GRIND BURGER FUNDRAISING
from Kiel
In other NewGen news, this week is the last week of the club's burger fundraiser with Rise & Grind, which ends on October 31.
You can get a Beef Burger for $22 or a Vegan Burger for $25, and both come with tasty chips.
$5 from the sale of every burger goes directly to NewGen.
The cafe is located at 605 Canterbury Rd, Vermont.

NewGen's street library is also set to be re-opened at the cafe soon, once Maddie and the team get the green light to re-commence dine-in service.
It will be expanded to include DVDs, and Steve is kindly donating an old rack for them all to sit in.
Be sure to visit the library and donate any DVDs you no longer want, and pick up some new ones!
