Wal left a substantial financial gift to Rotary in his Will. This generous donation ensures that Wal's legacy of service and commitment to Rotary will live on through this special award.

 

If you feel someone is worthy of this Award, someone who shows outstanding service, has done something remarkable, place their name and a brief explanation in the box located on the front desk. This will help jog everyone's memory of the contributions our members have made over the course of the year when voting takes place.

 

It's important to note that the names submitted are not the only individuals eligible for the Wal Goodwin Award. All current members can be voted for during the election process, which will take place in May 2026.  The award will then be presented at our annual Changeover.

 

In addition to the honour of receiving the Wal Goodwin Award, the recipient will also have a $200 donation made to Australian Rotary Health in their name. This is a fitting tribute that allows the recipient's impact to extend beyond our club and into the broader Rotary community.

 

Please take a moment to consider the members who have gone above and beyond in their service to Rotary and our Boronia club. Their dedication and commitment are what makes our Club so strong, and the Wal Goodwin Award is a wonderful way to recognise their invaluable contributions.

 

 

 My name is Mieke Alexander and I am organizing a ‘Transition to Retirement’ forum to be held on October 25th in Kilsyth. This is being organised by Kilsyth Community Action Group (KCAG)in partnership with Japara house, Kilsyth 

  

In our experience many people are a little lost after they retire, so the aim of this event is to give people a place to ask questions, get information and have a discussion with others potential retirees. 

  

The intention is to have information booths around Japara Hall 

 We are hoping to have information booths on a large number of community, social and supportive groups. The aim of these is 

 We will also have spaces for discussions. 

  

Your group is invited to be a participant on the day and be part of our selection of information booths. 

  There is no cost

Time - 1 to 4 with an opening time to the public from 1:30 to 3:30  

 What you need to bring – Information on your organisation and volunteers (1 or 2) to man the booth who can to promote and explain what your organisation does and how to join. 

 What we supply – Tables, chairs, coffee, tea and a large space.

To effectively recycle, only place clean and empty items like hard plastic bottles, aluminium and steel cans, glass bottles and jars, paper, and cardboard into your recycling bin, which typically has a yellow lid. Never use plastic bags as items must be loose and unbagged for proper sorting at the facility. Also, remember to flatten cardboard boxes and ensure no food or liquid contaminates the contents, as this can lead to the whole bin being rejected
