As we gather for this special time of year, I extend my warmest Easter greetings to each of you and your families. Easter reminds us of renewal, hope, and the strength of community, values that lie at the very heart of Rotary.
Thank you for the service, generosity, and fellowship you continue to bring to our club. Your commitment truly makes a difference.
It was wonderful to induct Roland recently, not only did I have the privilege of wearing my official lanyard, but it was also inspiring to see our community continue to grow.
We also held our board meeting last Thursday; a full report will follow after the Easter break.
May this season inspire us all to keep creating positive change, one act of kindness at a time.
Yours in Rotary

Term 1 of the Youth Skills Shed has come to an end, and once again it has been an absolute success.
We have had a terrific group of kids through the Shed this term, and it has been such a pleasure to watch their confidence grow, their skills develop, and their enthusiasm shine week after week. In fact, by the end of today, it was pretty clear this may well have been the best group weโve had come through so far.
To top off a wonderful term, we received a very special thank you from Noah โ a lovely letter, a picture, and even a box of chocolates. Itโs fair to say that is a pretty strong review of the program! It was such a thoughtful gesture and one that meant a great deal.
Noahโs mum said that all he talks about at home is what he has done in the Shed, which is both heartwarming and, I imagine, means the family now knows far more about Shed activities than they ever expected! Comments like that are a lovely reminder of just how much this program means to the kids.
We also heard today that this group didnโt want to go to school โ they just wanted to come to the Shed. Now while we probably shouldnโt encourage too much educational rebellion, it certainly says something special about what has been created there.
It was a fantastic way to finish the term and a real credit to everyone involved. The Youth Skills Shed continues to provide not just practical experiences, but a place where young people feel engaged, encouraged and excited to be part of something. That is something very special indeed.
Over a period of seven weeks, our โJunior Tradiesโ experienced a little of the Woodworking, Electrical, Plumbing, Concreting, Metalwork, Bricklaying and Hamburger Making Trades. Many thanks to the tradies that shared their knowledge and experience, and to the regular Rotary โhelpersโ that work together to make the program a resounding success.
You too can enjoy the experience by looking through the photos and videos that capture each weekโs activities: 2026-Term1.
A Special Easter Gathering at the Menโs Mental Health Hub
Last Wednesday we held our very first Easter BBQ at the Menโs Mental Health Hub, and it was a wonderful success, with 24 attendees coming along to enjoy the day.
There was such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with plenty of conversation, laughter and connection shared throughout the afternoon. Gatherings like this are a lovely reminder of just how important the Hub has become. It is more than just a place to meet โ it is a place where friendships grow, support is shared and people feel they belong.
This special day would not have happened without a wonderful team effort. A huge thank you to Janine and Greg for supplying the hamburgers and taking on the cooking, to Lyn for purchasing the food and putting together the Easter surprise parcels, and to Susan for her help in the kitchen. Thank you also to Ken and Paul for collecting the BBQ, setting up the hall and making sure everything ran smoothly, and to Ray and Peter for their willing and able assistance.
While everyone was enjoying their burgers, Inga and Felicia ran a session, which added another special touch to the day. And to finish it all off, a round of hot cross buns went down very well โ the perfect ending to a lovely Easter gathering.
The comments from some of our members said it all: โWell done to everyone involved. What a great team.โ Another shared, โGreat example of how one personโs idea can change the lives of many others.โ Others described it as โan amazing team effortโ and said, โYou all made this Easter event truly special.โโGreat job champions,โ and โWell done. You are all heroes.โ
Those comments reflect exactly what this Hub is all about. It takes people with kind hearts, willing hands and a genuine desire to make a difference. It was a beautiful example of that. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special.
Easter Quiz
Can you name the bunny or rabbit? Answers will be revealed at our meeting.
NEWS FROM THE ENVIRONMENT TEAM
Here are some tips on ways to reuse, recycle and reduce your waste โ
When you purchase fruit and vegetables at the supermarket, instead of putting them in the shop-supplied plastic bags, use your own supply of reusable mesh or cloth bags.
Do you have a worm farm or compost bin at home for your kitchen waste?
Instead of throwing out used jars, lids and cardboard items, save them and donate to your local pre-school.
Reduce or eliminate use of plastic wrap by substituting with silicone or beeswax wraps.
CONTAINER DEPOSIT SCHEME
The Rotary Club of Boronia is registered as a donation partner with the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme. Victoria is divided into 3 zones and of course we sit on the border between two of them, so weโre registered with both the North and East zones. Persons returning containers to any collection point in either zone may nominate us to receive the funds from their donations simply by scanning the attached barcode or entering our Donation Partner ID. All funds contributed will be deposited to our Committee account.
Alternatively, you may bring your empty bottles and cans to our meetings. Environment Chair Annette Griffin will take them to a recycling location to make a deposit on our behalf. You can also bring used batteries to meetings for collection.
