As the weeks continue to fly by, it's hard to believe we are approaching the end of June. Reflecting on my time as President of our Club, I must say it has truly been a pleasure to represent such a vibrant community. This year has offered me a wonderful learning experience—busy, yes, but in the most rewarding way.
I hope all the mothers enjoyed their Mother's Day. I understand that this day can also be challenging for some, as it brings mixed emotions. Mothers play such an important role in our lives, and I feel incredibly blessed to be the mother of three beautiful daughters and to have two gorgeous grandchildren. I am fortunate to still have both my mother and mother-in-law with me. Each day, I am reminded of how lucky I am, as I know not everyone is so fortunate. Life truly is a blessing.
Our Club is thriving, engaged in fantastic projects that make a real difference. After our last meeting, the Board met with Inga and Felicia, two dedicated Social Workers, to discuss a new project. We are excited to share that we are in discussions to establish a Men’s Mental Health Hub right here in Boronia. This initiative aims to create a safe space for men in our local area to seek support both socially and mentally. With trained counsellors on site, we hope to facilitate meaningful discussions and provide a welcoming environment. Lunch, tea and coffee will be provided, featuring simple sandwiches, to encourage attendance and build relationships. The Board has unanimously agreed that this project is worth pursuing, and we look forward to having Inga and Felicia present the concept to the Club.
I want to remind everyone about the upcoming District Assembly on Saturday, May 17th and 24th. This event is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Rotary and explore different roles within our organisation. It's particularly beneficial for newer members seeking to deepen their understanding of Rotary's mission and values. There will be sessions tailored for President Elects, Secretaries, and Treasurers, but all are welcome to attend any segment that interests them. I am honoured to have been asked to run a session on Saturday, May 24th, focused on 'Running Successful Projects.' I will be talking about the success of the Youth Skills Shed project along with Ray. If you would like to join us for the District Assembly, please register online. Further information and the registration link can be found later in this bulletin or CLICK HERE.
A reminder, there will be no meeting on Tuesday 20th May, as we will be having a social night at the 1812 Theatre on Wednesday 21st May.
Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm as we work together to make a positive impact in our community!
Take care,
Monique

On Thursday 8th May, Greg Mossop and I were pleased to attend the 1st Birthday of the Probus Club of Boronia. The Probus Club is doing really well with 38 members currently. They are very active with plenty of activities in the pipeline. Below is a copy of my speech presented to them and a couple of photos from the day.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am the President of the Rotary Club of Boronia. As the President of our Club, I am very happy to be here today to celebrate the 1st birthday of the Probus Club of Boronia! What a special occasion this is, and I’m thrilled to share this moment with all of you.
Looking back on this past year, it’s amazing to see how the Probus Club has become a lively place for friendship and learning. As our Rotary Club that sponsored Probus, we are so proud of everything you have achieved in such a short time. Your hard work in creating a friendly and welcoming space has helped enrich the lives of your members.
I have done a bit of reflection of what value it is to be a member of Rotary, and there are also so many benefits of being a member of Probus.
Being a member of Probus comes with many great benefits:
1. Making New Friends: Probus is all about meeting new people and forming great friendships. The connections you make here help create a sense of belonging and support.
2. Learning Opportunities: Through interesting speakers, fun activities, and educational programs, members can keep learning and growing. This love for learning is truly inspiring.
3. Having Fun Together: The events and outings you organize bring joy and laughter. These moments create wonderful memories that everyone will cherish.
4. A Caring Support Network: Being part of Probus means having a caring community to rely on. Members support each other, which is incredibly valuable during both good and tough times.
As we celebrate today, let’s not only look back at what you have done in the past year but also be excited for the future. We can’t wait to see the Probus Club of Boronia continue to grow.
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Boronia, I want to congratulate you all on your 1st birthday. Here’s to many more years of friendship, fun, and success ahead!
Happy birthday to the Probus Club of Boronia! Thank you for letting us be part of this wonderful journey!
