AUGUST - MEMBERSHIP AND NEW CLUB DEVELOPMENT MONTH
Monique's Message
Dear Members,
We are thrilled to announce that our club has been selected for the Rotary Fit for Purpose Program! We are one of only 84 clubs chosen, and we are excited about the opportunities it presents. Bernadette Vanderwolde will represent us at a two-day seminar in October, where she will participate in an intense interactive learning and development experience featuring the best available presenters on membership development topics. A team of facilitators will work with the delegates to create a customised Club Fitness Plan for each club. Each custom Club Fitness Plan will draw from a comprehensive Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) Analysis and I look forward to seeing what insights and initiatives arise from this experience.
In addition, during our last Board meeting, we agreed to support the Connecting Kids to the Knox Community project with a contribution of $5,000. This funding will help young people from financially struggling families in the Knox Municipality engage in a sport or leisure activity of their choice. Specifically, our support will assist approximately 25 young individuals ($200 per person) with membership fees, uniforms, and necessary equipment. We will present the funds to Penny and Julie from Knox Infolink at our meeting on October 15th. It is wonderful to be able to support the youth in our community.
At our last meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from Janette Etherington of Interplast, who shared the remarkable work being done. As we move forward, I encourage everyone attending this week's Working Groups to brainstorm ways we can raise additional funds to support this important project.
I wanted to take a moment to address the incident that occurred during our meeting last week. Unfortunately, Heather Anderson collapsed. She is currently undergoing tests and I will endeavour to keep you informed of her progress. Our thoughts are with her, and we are hoping for a swift recovery.
I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to the Knox Club staff and the members for their attentive response during the situation with Heather. Their quick action and support were invaluable, and we are grateful for their help.
Additionally, I want to acknowledge all of our members for your concern and support during this challenging time. I have spoken to Heather, and she is truly appreciative of the kindness and care shown by everyone. It’s moments like these that remind us of the strength and compassion of the members of our Club. We are a family.
This incident has underscored the importance of having emergency contact details readily available. To ensure we are prepared for any future situations, we have sent out an email to all members requesting that you provide at least two emergency contacts. Having this information on hand will help us respond promptly if the need arises.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and let’s continue to keep Heather in our thoughts during her recovery.
Thank you once again for your compassion and support.
Take care.

KNOX NETWORKING EVENT
We are excited to be hosting our next Volunteer Manager’s Network meeting at the Knox Environment Society where we can ‘NETWORK WITH NATURE’!
We have invited ‘The Lizard Wizard’ to share an interactive experience where we can get up close and personal with wildlife while we network!
A wonderful way to focus on caring for our wildlife and environment. Meet Frank the Lizard and Gemini the Python if you dare!
The Knox Environment Society have also kindly offered a tour of their nursery where we can see first hand how volunteering looks for them!
We will end our day with a delicious morning tea and a take home goodie bag!
We hope that you can attend as this is a wonderful way to meet and talk freely with other like minded Managers about all things volunteering.
We have limited spots available so make sure you book in asap with the link below. Bookings close on Friday 20th of September or before if capacity is reached.
If members are unable to attend Tuesday night's meeting, please decline on ClubRunner by 5pm the Monday before. This is important for Knox Club staff and catering purposes.
You can update or find information on this website or contact Monique Smith to register or update your details. *Please remember to list Rotary Club of Boronia as a place you volunteer.
