Congratulations to Heather Anderson for her Paul Harris Fellowship. Presented with recognition for her personal contribution to Rotary Foundation.
Two members who received a PHF from our Past District Governor, Peter Behm, last Saturday night:
Monique Smith, for her outstanding work as Conference Chair; and
Mark Smith, for his music, entertainment, and support at the conference.
Peter Malden was presented the Victoria Day award last Wednesday, congratulations Peter.
Now, down to business: what are my plans for this fantastic club this year?
Continuity is at the forefront of my planning fully supporting any ideas or plans going forward. Our recent Past Presidents and club members have been successful with numerous programs and projects, too many to name now. I did mention how good the Youth Skills Shed is!
Some changes and challenges to put forward to our members:
1. Changing the names of our groups to Committees not Working Groups.
2. The Chair of each committee will be invited once a month to tell the club about a highlight for that month from their committee. I also encourage the committees to put forward a target and goal for the year not just a budget.
3. More “Friends of Rotary” to participate with our Club. This will be conducted by the Membership and Wellbeing committee. It would be a fantastic outcome if we could get to 15 “Friends of Rotary this year” and who knows, some of them could become members.
4. I would like our Club to be involved in The Blue Tree project.
The Blue Tree Project is a mental health charity that began in 2019 after the tragic loss of Jayden Whyte, a much-loved son, brother and friend to suicide in 2018. Blue Tree Project began as a grassroots initiative in regional Western Australia which has grown into a widely recognised and impactful global movement.
The closest Blue Tree to us is at the Mulgrave Southern Community Centre near Waverly Gardens Shopping Centre. There are no Blue Trees in the City of Knox.

On Saturday, 4th July, at District Changeover two of our members received PHF +2 recognition for their outstanding and tireless work from outgoing district governor Peter Behm.

SHITBOX RALLY:
Last week Mark set off on the Shitbox Rally. We are enjoying following his adventures and wish him a safe trip on his journey.
Shitbox Rally is not a race, rather a challenge to achieve the unthinkable...
To drive cars worth just $1,500 across Australia via some of its most formidable roads, all in the name of charity.
This rally is for those who want to have an adventure, have fun, who crave something different, who want to make new life long friends, take part in something memorable but most importantly, it's for those who want to raise much needed money for charity.
On Saturday we saw our 2 participants in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards complete their week long program at Phillip Island.
They both mentioned in their closing speech that the program has been very beneficial in paving their way forward to become leaders in their community.
Well done to both, Thomas and Mathew.
