WEEKLY BULLETIN    VOLUME 11   ISSUE 43  20th May 2025

Monique's Message

On Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the 'Volunteer for Knox' expo at the Knox Civic Centre. It was heartening to see such a great turnout, with hundreds of community members eager to explore various volunteering opportunities in our area. Our Rotary Club received a lot of interest, and I am hopeful that this engagement will lead to fruitful collaborations and interest in joining Rotary.
I would like to extend my thanks to Greg, Helene, Julienne, and Ray for their support on the day. I was truly impressed by the passion with which we spoke and how well we represented our Club. It fills me with pride to be part of such a wonderful organisation and community.
Events like these serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of connecting with other organisations within our community. By working together, we can effectively support one another and address the needs and challenges we face.
During my conversations at the expo, I was reminded of the significance of having a concise and compelling 'elevator pitch' about Rotary. If someone asks you about our Club, how would you respond?
"At the Rotary Club of Boronia, we are more than just a group that hosts sausage sizzles. We are dedicated to tackling community needs and challenges through various service projects. Our current project focus on youth programs and mental health initiatives, and we are part of a global network of over 1.2 million Rotarians committed to serving others. Being a Rotarian offers personal growth, lasting friendships, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community. Join us as we come together for the good of others!"
Additionally, I want to emphasize the importance of being curious when engaging with others. Asking questions about the person you are speaking to not only shows genuine interest but also helps build a relationship. This can lead to deeper connections and greater opportunities.  There is so much opportunity to learn from each other. You could invite them to share their opinions on what they feel is needed in the community and we could potentially help them with that idea.
I would also like to remind everyone that voting for the Wal Goodwin Award closes on Tuesday. If you haven’t cast your vote yet, please take a moment to do so.
Lastly, I hope you all enjoy a wonderful evening at the Royal Hotel and the 1812 Theatre. Have a fantastic rest of your week!

Take care,

Monique
