We had a break in to our shed at the CWA, nothing taken and Paul was able to fix the locks so that it would be a deterrent in the future for any likely thieves. Thank you, Paul.
On Wednesday last week Peter M, Monique, Jan and myself, did a presentation at the Mt Waverly Rotary Club. It was an opportunity for us to showcase the projects we do as a club as they had heard that we run many successful projects. Interesting to hear that they are very good at fundraising but slip a bit when it comes to projects. We hope we have inspired them to do more in their community. Thank you, Peter, Monique and Jan, for your support on the night.
On Monday we had the Grand Opening of the new Rotary Skills Shed at Boronia K-12. Wow what a day it was! Many high profile guests including the Mayor of Knox Cr Paige Kennett, Mary Doyle local Federal MP, 5 De Walt staff, the Complex Manager Mark from Bunnings Bayswater and his staff, Kristy Foster Assistant Principal at Boronia Heights Primary, Christine Hill Manager of Westfield Knox City Shopping Centre (she also cut the ribbon) and many of our Rotarians. Principal of K-12 Paul Broecker acknowledged the exceptional work from our Club in making this Shed happen, and the work his staff contribute to this program. Nothing short of excellent! This is a true reflection of what can be achieved in our Club and is recognized by other Clubs and organizations in our District and beyond. Well done to all concerned and we hope to continue this project in other localities.
I then had the privilege of inducting my first new member. Geoff Ladner became a member of our Club and was presented with his badge and pin by Robyn Green (who came off the interchange bench because Peter M, he was on Zoom, and Geoff and Annette Griffen were away). He joins the Environment Committee and will be a great contributor to our Club. He did a little speech (3 pages…..!) in which he thanked the Club for the invite to join and what it means to him to be a member of our Club. Welcome Geoff!
Our Chairperson for the night, Glenn Tippett, (also off the interchange bench as Gonny was away), presented his RAK (Random Act of Kindness) where he was able to pay for some items in the supermarket for a person who was struggling to pay. What a brilliant Random Act that was and much appreciated by the person who you helped! Thank you, Glenn.
Then we had Tony Stokes (and wife Robyn) from the Rotary Club of Box Hill Central as our guest speaker. Tony told us about the You Can’t Wait Toilet program that the Club is involved in, mainly in Ethiopia but does include other work in other countries. A very informative talk and certainly many hours of hard work to help these struggling people.

BORONIA K-12 ROTARY SKILLS SHED OPENING:
On Monday we officially opened our second skills shed. This one is located at Boronia K-12 college.
We were honored to have Mary Doyle Federal Member for Aston, Paige Kennett Mayor of Knox and Christine Hall and Natalie Goldsmith from Westfield Knox, Bunnings Bayswater staff Mark, Steff, John, Trish and Sharyn. Dewalt was represented by Donna, Fleet Plant Hire Aaron and Caleb. Bendigo Bank Steven, Natalie and the Assistant Principal of Boronia Heights Primary School were the first shed is.
This remarkable project just keeps getting bigger with a waiting list of students who want to learn skills they probably wouldn’t otherwise have had a chance to learn.
A special thank you to all who have participated in this project, Bunnings, Westfield Knox, Dewalt, Fleet Plant Hire, Bendigo Bank and all the tradies and helpers who volunteer their time to support this project.

THE ROTARY SKILLS SHED - INSPIRING OUR JUNIOR TRADIES!
Our Rotary Skills Shed is an exciting new initiative at Boronia K-12 College, providing selected students in Years 4–6 with the opportunity to develop practical, hands-on skills across a range of trades.
Running each Monday afternoon, students will explore areas including woodworking, plumbing, electrical, metalwork, concreting, bricklaying, bike maintenance and food preparation in our newly renovated Rotary Skills Shed.
Throughout the program, students will learn safe tool handling while gaining valuable experience using a variety of tools and equipment under the guidance of Boronia K-12 College staff and experienced trade professionals.
Thanks to the generous support of Rotary and our program donors, this incredible opportunity is provided at no cost to participating students.
Yesterday marked our very first session with the wonderful team from Knox Woodworkers, and what a fantastic start it was! Coinciding with the official opening of our Rotary Skills Shed (more on that to come!), our junior tradies proudly assembled their very own toolbox to take home. It was a fantastic afternoon of learning, teamwork and building confidence through hands-on experiences.
We can't wait to see the amazing skills our students develop throughout the program!
Forty years ago, a group of Rotary clubs made a decision to back medical research. They have not stopped since.
Rotary District 9815 - 84 clubs across Melbourne's south-east and Gippsland - has now raised $2,476,285 for Australian Rotary Health. Not in one hit. Not from a single donor. From people who ride, who organise, who show up every year and do it again.
This year they did it across six days and 22-27 March, through a ride called The Search for the Centre of Victoria. They raised $42,269.40.
That money backs real research. The kind that starts as a question no one else is willing to fund - and becomes something that changes outcomes for people who need it.
To the riders, the organisers, the supporters and every club in D9815 - thank you. You are what 40 years of community-powered research looks like.
