At our last meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from Past District Governor Alma Reynolds, who gave a presentation on the Rotary Foundation. It was both informative and inspiring, and I hope everyone took away some valuable new knowledge. A key takeaway was that funds contributed to the Foundation stay right here in Australia, supporting important local and international projects. In Rotary news, a new International President has been selected for 2025–26 – Francesco Arezzo. The Presidential theme will continue to be “Unite for Good.” While this does not necessarily affect us, at club level our focus remains on the needs of our local community and beyond, which I am very proud that we do very well.
We’re also pleased to announce a meaningful local partnership with Eastern Health (Chandler House) has now been established and finalised. Our Club will be facilitating small purchases of equipment on their behalf by managing a small amount of funds from their trust account. These will cover purchases from smaller suppliers not listed in their system. This initiative is fully audited and comes at no cost to our Club – it’s simply a service we are proud to provide and a great connection with Eastern Health.
A quick reminder: Our upcoming social event with the Community Group – Hills and Beyond – is fast approaching! We’re off to the Basin Theatre to see ‘Educating Rita’ on Saturday 9th August. It promises to be a fun outing and a great chance to connect with fellow Rotarians. Details have been circulated, and tickets are available via TryBooking: TryBooking.com/DCJLM
I look forward to our presentation with OAM Mary McGowan speaking about ‘My Room’, supporting children and families with cancer. It will be a moving and inspiring presentation. She is one incredible woman!
With only a couple of weeks left as President, I have been reflecting on my year and am very grateful for all of you. I look forward to welcoming you at our next meeting. See you then.
Take care,
Monique
