WEEKLY BULLETIN    VOLUME 8   ISSUE 28  4th February 2025

Monique's Message

Wow, what a wonderful turnout for the Vocational Visit to the Temple in The Basin last Tuesday night! A heartfelt thank you goes out to Ramana and Shoba for making this night a success, and to Vanesschka for coordinating our visit with the Temple. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend, but from all accounts, it was a terrific night, with 42 of us representing our Club enjoying their hospitality and a lovely meal. There was so much to be learned.
A goal that I had set for myself at the beginning of my year as President was to consolidate our membership and our efforts as a Club to remain actively engaged in our community.  I feel we are making great strides towards this goal, especially the level of enthusiasm you all seem to have with our events and activities of late.  It really makes my heart warm to see us all come together and enjoy the purpose of Rotary.  We have all joined Rotary for varied reasons, but essentially, we want to ‘make a difference’ to the lives of people in need, but in doing so, we are also ‘making a difference’ in our own lives, by forming great friendships and a sense of belonging at the same time.  It is so great to see and be part of this.
I want to take this opportunity to highlight an exciting event taking place on 1st March 2025. Knox Rocks is a Rotary-driven, youth-focused program has run three times now, providing our local youth with opportunities to learn about songwriting. The vision of Knox Rocks is to empower young people through personal mastery, increased confidence, a sense of achievement, and enhanced musical skills. This is particularly important as we recognize the challenges youth have faced in recent years. The program aims to address some of these challenges.
Knox Rocks consists of a series of six workshops, allowing participants to develop their musical creations, culminating in a session at a professional recording studio where their songs are recorded and processed, providing them with tangible outcomes. All instruments, equipment, and support materials are provided as part of the program.
In previous years, we have celebrated the outcomes during one of our regular meetings, listening to the songs produced. This year, however, we are taking it a step further. The songs will be performed by professionals in a concert environment, and it would be fantastic to see all members supporting this event. Bring your family and friends to witness the incredible songs that have been crafted. For those who have witnessed these outcomes, you will know what sort of a night this will be.
Additionally, we will be entertained by various singers and bands, making it a night not to be missed! Please book your tickets soon, via the link further in this bulletin, or you can pay and book at one of our meetings. Let's spread the word and make this night a great success, just as the program deserves. I ask you all to PLEASE SUPPORT THIS PROGRAM 😊
We have some interesting meetings ahead of us.  Our next meeting, we will have a presentation from Davina Upshall, who is an experienced business coach.  She will share insights on how our Rotary group could adapt to remain relevant with members by continuously evolving membership value propositions.  It will be interesting to hear her perspective.
Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm.

Monique
