It was a great night at the park last week, thank you to everyone who was able to make it. I hope everyone had a fantastic time. I know i did, maybe not my children.
Now, it’s back into it.
I’m really looking forward to welcoming everyone back to The Knox Club this week. Here’s hoping the second half of the year is just as successful as the first. I’m excited to see what we can achieve together as a club as we continue to help and support our communities.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Yours in Rotary

Another “Knox Rocks” program, facilitated by the Rotary Club of Boronia, came to a successful conclusion when recordings of each of the participants’ songs were revealed at a final group session on 12th December. Program participants Ash, Charlie, Chloe, Holly, Jack, Janussha, Jordie, Katie and Kira all took pride in sharing the results of their creativity.
Once again, some amazing compositions have been created through the song writing workshops offered by this program.
Knox Rocks is a youth focused initiative that provides opportunities for youth in our local community to learn about song writing. The program itself consisted of a series of six workshops that enabled the participants to develop musical creations and culminated in a session at a professional recording studio during which the created songs were recorded and processed to provide the participants with tangible outcomes from the program. All instruments, equipment and support materials were provided as part of the program.
Thanks, and gratitude goes to the program organisers, Rotarians Mark Smith and Stephen Spiers (administrative support); song writing lead and mentor, Emma Jury; and backing musicians, the band Gecko as well as to Bridgebuilders Youth Charity for making its facilities available for the six workshop sessions.
To quote lead project organiser (and inspiration behind the project), Mark Smith:
“It’s so powerful to show these young people there is way of expressing emotions and thoughts through songwriting. This year we have had some amazing songs written and some truly heartfelt and emotional stories being told. Well done to all of them for being brave and sharing their stories with us.”
We’ve been contacted by Tanya, the host at 3MDR 97.1FM, and she is really enthusiastic about featuring The Knox Rocks project on her show!
