Bernie's Brief

Hi all,

I am truly looking forward to our end of year dinner and cannot wait to see as many of you as possible.  This evening is not only a chance to share, but also to reflect on that year that passed and celebrate the wonderful things we have achieved together.

As we reflect on the year that has been past I wanted to mention the following:

* Monique started the year so well, and her legacy leaves the club in such a better place.

* Ray has been amazing and we look forward to him being president next year.

* Each of the years Working Groups has continued tirelessly, and I thank you for all being so engaged and interactive.

* Behind the scenes as special mention to, Peter (Secretary), Ron (speaker organiser), Monique (Bulletin) & Mark (Treasurer) have quietly kept everything running smoothly, your efforts are deeply appreciated.

 * To all members I say thankyou.  From the smallest tasks to the biggest projects, every contribution matters. Thank you for being such an active and supportive part of our Rotary family.

I wish everyone and their families a great Christmas and New Year.

Yours in Rotary

CONTAINER UPDATE

The container of donated goods is nearly on its way! Our shipment will travel from Simba Global in Bayswater up to Swire Shipping in Brisbane, where it will then be transported by sea to Port Moresby. From there, our friends at the Rotary Club of Port Moresby are coordinating the final leg of the journey to Alotau in the Milne Bay Province.

Desley Tunstall will be on site in Papua New Guinea to help ensure all items are received safely and delivered to the right communities and schools. This hands-on support is vital in making sure our donations reach those who need them most, and is a wonderful example of Rotary service in action. This project is proudly supported by a District Grant from The Rotary Foundation.

DISTRICT 9815 CINEMA ADVERTISING
On Friday 12th December, DG Peter Behm launched the District 9815 Rotary cinema advertising campaign at the Palace Dendy Brighton Cinema's.  Ray Siegersma & Monique Smith attended with over 50 other members from our District to watch the debut screening, followed by a complimentary movie 'The Choral'.  It was a great night, and what a great way to showcase "Rotary in Action", featuring our amazing Youth Skills Shed project.  Click on the link below to watch the ad.

Our final meeting will take place on Tuesday 16th December.  This will be a Xmas function on the 'Deck' at the Knox Club.  This is a fully enclosed area suitable for all weather conditions.  This is a partner night.  Bring along a KK present. We need to confirm final numbers no later than Monday 15th December, so it is important for us to know if you can or cannot attend.
Cost $30 -  2 course meal.  Please let either Jan Malden or Monique Smith know if you haven't already done so.
Thank you.

This is always a fun day – wrapping shoppers’ gifts in return for a donation to our Club, and a fantastic way to promote Rotary in our community. ⭐

I will email all those who have volunteered with the relevant information.

Thank you,

Letter from the Bulletin Editor

Dear Members and Friends,

As we jingle our way towards Christmas, I’d like to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful festive season. I hope you enjoy a happy, healthy and relaxing break surrounded by family, friends and good food.

It’s been an extremely busy six months, and I hope you’ve found the weekly bulletin enjoyable and useful in keeping up with what’s happening in our Club. I’ve tried to include as much current news as possible, and I apologise if I’ve missed anything along the way.

Looking ahead, if you would like anything included in upcoming bulletins, please send me an email and I’ll do my very best to include it. Photos, project updates, celebrations – it all helps tell the story of our wonderful Club.

I’m looking forward to a little rest over the next couple of weeks and then coming back refreshed and ready for another big year. I can’t wait to see you all in the New Year and to share more of the great things we achieve together.

Great work everyone – we certainly are part of an amazing Rotary Club, and I’m very proud to be telling our story each week.

Warm festive wishes,

Monique Smith

Bulletin Editor
