This week, our club was honoured to connect with and hear from St Jude’s International School, a remarkable institution dedicated to providing high-quality education in a global context. The school fosters not only academic excellence, but also cross-cultural understanding and a strong sense of social responsibility.
A special thank you to the educators and leaders at The School of St Jude for the work they do in nurturing future changemakers. We hope the International Working Group can consider their proposal at the next meeting.
Rotary’s commitment to youth development continues through RYLA—the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards—an inspiring program that equips young adults with leadership skills and purpose-driven confidence.
Our club proudly sponsored Ryan Bennett, who was unfortunately unable to attend due to a family emergency, and Alannah, who joined the RYLA leadership team. The RYLA cohort departed for Phillip Island on Monday morning (14/7), and we wish them a energising experience.
We also look forward to hearing from the Social Team following our Guess Who's Coming to Dinner events this weekend. Thank you to everyone who participated and made it a warm, Rotary-spirited evening/lunch.
Whether through education at St Jude’s or empowerment through RYLA, our club remains proud to support initiatives that equip young people to build a more just, inclusive, and compassionate world.

Please use Club Runner to manage your attendance. If you are unable to attend and/or wish to bring additional guestsfor a special event or partners night please do so by 5pm Monday night. We need to give Knox Club numbers and pay for meals even if you do not attend.

You should have received your invoice for the club membership fees – this is just a quick update on where the fees go, and what the fees are for.
First of all, your invoice is broken up into 2 amounts. The subscription is split into 2 six month blocks which you can pay either, all now, or half now and half in six months.
Most of the fees go towards the District levy, Conference levy, Insurance levy, Rotary International levy, and RDU magazine subscription. A small part of your fees go towards the expenses of running the club, which includes IT and equipment, meals for guests etc.
Your fees are paid into the club “admin account” along with the weekly fines and weekly raffle. This account is only used for managing the running of the club and the Rotary fees and levies. The weekly meal amount also goes into this account for payment to the Knox Club.
All of the money we raise through our fundraising efforts and activities goes into the “committee account” which is used to support the projects and partners that we work with.
We also have four other accounts. A short term investment account which holds excess money from the committee account. A debit card account that has a zero balance (we transfer money to this only when we need to use the card). A “Grants” account that is used when we receive a district grant that needs to be kept separate from our main accounts. The fourth is money which we administer on behalf of Eastern Health. The money in this account comes from an Eastern Health benefactor and is used to pay smaller suppliers that are not in the Eastern Health system.
All of our payments require a two person digital authentication process, with the signatories being President, Secretary and Treasurer.
The weekend of July 12th and 13th, the Social Group organised a fun event.
We enjoyed the company of fellow Rotarians with a delicious dinner or lunch from our gracious hosts.

Our last meeting, we had a wonderful presentation from David Dobney, speaking about the school of St Jude in Tanzania .In 2002, The School of St Jude opened with one teacher and a handful of sponsored students.
Today, The School of St Jude is a pioneering leader in charitable education within Africa. They provide free, quality education to 1,800 bright primary and secondary students who come from considerably poor backgrounds. They provide them with everything they need for a successful education, ensuring our students' well-being and future success.
Located across three campuses, they provide boarding for all secondary students and employ around 300 Tanzanian staff.
97% of St Jude’s secondary graduates go on to access higher education, supported by Beyond St Jude’s or by other means. Through Beyond St Jude’s, our program for secondary graduates, we support 100s of graduates with access to higher education and provide more than 20,000 government school students with volunteer teachers each year.
