September is Basic Education and Literacy Month for Rotary.
This is one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus. We all know how critical reading and writing are for success in life – for gaining information, communicating, making agreements, and so forth.
Enhancing Basic Education skills and Literacy are essential in reducing poverty, improving health, encouraging community and economic development, and promoting peace. Improvements can reduce maternal death, improve childhood survivability, and reduce poverty. They can also enable success in business or a profession.
Projects undertaken by a Rotary Club can address low adult literacy, returning youth to school, enhancing student performance, or supplementing limited school resources.
Consider how your club is, or could showcase "THE MAGIC OF ROTARY by supporting basic education and literacy in your community or somewhere else in the world.
Our meetings are hybrid, with both online and in person attendance options.

Each Monday afternoon, we give the Knox Club our final meal numbers, and that is exactly how many bread rolls they order.
So, if you have advised that you’re not having a meal, sadly there won’t be a bread roll with your name on it!
And if we don’t know you’re coming for a meal, we can’t guarantee there’ll be a roll waiting for you either.
Please make sure your meal arrangements are confirmed by Monday afternoon.
We are doing our best to make our meetings run smoothly. Thanks for your co-operation.

The Rotary Club of Boronia’s Trivia & Bingo Night will be held on Saturday 7 November 2026 at St Paul’s Anglican Church Hall, 273 Dorset Road, Boronia. Doors open at 6.30pm, with the fun beginning at 7.00pm.
Test your knowledge in the trivia rounds, then try your luck at Bingo for the chance to win cash prizes, and earn valuable extra points for your table! There will also be raffles, games and loads of fabulous silent auction items up for grabs throughout the evening.

Dillbadin Primary School would love to invite members of Boronia Rotary Club to attend the dress rehearsal of our whole-school production, Project Perfect.
The dress rehearsal will take place on Wednesday 16th September. The show will begin at 12:30pm, so we kindly ask that you arrive at 12:15pm.
The performance will be held in the Performing Arts Room at Dillbadin Primary School.
The students were honoured to attend the ANZAC day service this year and because of this, we would love to have you join us for this special occasion.

Boronia Probus would like to invite members of the Boronia Rotary Club to join them in celebrating 50 years of Probus.
Another term in the Youth Skills Shed has come to an end! We have now completed 8 terms (2 years) of sessions where trade skills have been shared with 76 primary school aged students.
This week our ‘Junior Tradies’ enjoyed learning how to make Hamburgers under the guidance of Club member, Marina from the local Burgatory store. Each participant made their own and enjoyed eating them.
As this was the last session for this group of Junior Tradies, each was presented with a “Certificate of Participation” and a Tool Kit to take home and continue to apply their newly acquired skills
Our junior tradies have certainly worked up appetite this term. To conclude our Rotary Skills Shed Program we moved across to the College kitchens with Ms Byrne.
Our junior tradies worked collaboratively to mix a quick and easy yoghurt and flour pizza dough. Each student selected from a range of toppings to build their own individual pizzas, which were a great success… not a crumb left over!
These are the events that we have assisted two netball teams and officials to participate in this coming week. We wish all participants a safe, happy and well run championship / go Alotau teams.
Several of our members attended the Tilly Aston Community Awards, we had three of our members nominated for the Awards.
Monique Smith for the Leadership award, Ray Siegersma for the Local Hero Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award and Peter Malden for the Volunteer of the year Award.
Congratulations to you all you are all inspirational in the work you do for the community.
The Tilly Aston Community Awards are a recognition program that honours outstanding contributions and achievements within the Aston community. Named after Tilly Aston, a renowned advocate for social causes, these awards aim to celebrate individuals or groups that have demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and positive impact in various aspects of community life.

We would like to thank the Bendigo Bank for supporting local projects in the Knox area. Our club has just received a Bendigo Bank grant to support the Men’s Hub snack and Chat project. These funds will help us support men in our community who are struggling to find their way.

We had a wonderful presentation from Tanya Saunders the volunteer coordinator for Mi Care about the service they offer to their clients.
