Bernie's Brief

Hi all,

It was wonderful to see our biggest fundraiser, the Golf Day, in full swing.

First, a huge thank you to Penry Green, Robyn Green and Helene Kameith for their leadership and hard work. Secondly, thank you to the entire club for arranging gifts and for all the help on the day. It was fantastic to see so many people assisting, supporting, and proudly wearing their blue Rotary shirts.

I also want to express my sincere thanks to John White and Ken Barrett for their many years of dedication in organising this event, and for so thoughtfully passing the baton to others.

Thank you as well to everyone who supported Annette and the team at Clean Up Australia Day today.

It’s truly inspiring to see so many of us getting involved and enjoying everything our club has to offer. I know I say it often, but it really is amazing.

Yours in Rotary

SUNRISE CHANEL 7 LOCAL HERO EVENT

Sunrise has invited Westfield Local Hero Ray Siegersma to appear on Sunrise and talk about the Youth Skills Shed.

What an amazing opportunity to showcase the program and the work of Rotary Club of Boronia to a much wider audience.

The Sunrise broadcast will take place on Tuesday 3 March, from around 5:30–6:00am.

Location: 3rd Doncaster East (Scout Hall) — corner of Blackburn Road & Saxonwood Drive, Doncaster East(located in Zerbes Reserve).

We’ll be running a BBQ on the morning, so come along, grab a snag, and help us create a great atmosphere for the broadcast.

On the day we’ll have 7 boys from the new Junior Tradies Skills Shed group, plus one past participant, and, at least four tradies, and two principals, along with Assistant Principal Kristy. It’s shaping up to be a terrific opportunity to highlight the value of the program and the support behind it.

Yes, it’s early — but it would be brilliant to have a strong member turnout.

Please come along if you can, wear your Rotary gear, and help us promote our Club and support the kids.

ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF DAY

Annual Charity Golf Day – Monday 23 February

Our Annual Charity Golf Day was held last Monday, 23 February, and what a fantastic day it was. The weather was absolutely perfect, setting the scene for a brilliant turnout of around 90 players.

Golfers enjoyed the challenge of Eastfield Golf Course, followed by a scrumptious lunch and plenty of good fellowship to round out the day.

A big congratulations and thank you to our organisers, Penry & Robyn Green, along with our Fundraising Chair Helena Kamieth. You did a wonderful job—especially with big shoes to fill after Ken Barrett and John White, who successfully ran the day for many years.

We also had around 10 Rotarians come along to lend a hand on the day, and every bit of support was genuinely appreciated.

Most importantly, funds raised from this year’s event will go towards The Men’s Hub and Tamminya House—two valuable causes that make a real difference in our community.
