The recent Rotary meeting was a festive occasion, as we came together to celebrate “Xmas in July”.  We even had a special visitor who tested our knowledge and handed out prizes.  Thank you, Ray, for wearing the Red suit!  The event was a tremendous success, thanks to the hard work of the Fellowship Working Group.  The evening was filled with joy, camaraderie, and delicious treats, with special recognition for Heather Anderson’s yummy shortbread.

 

The night provided a break from our traditional meeting, with partners and guests attending, with a fun filled atmosphere. Thank you to all those involved for creating the Xmas atmosphere and to those who made an effort to dress up for the occasion.

 

Another highlight of the meeting was the Wine Raffle being drawn, once again, expertly organised by Michael Jacobs.  The raffle proved to be a great success, generating a profit of over $5000. 

 

The generosity of everyone who purchased tickets and the hard work of Michael contributed to this tremendous achievement.  The proceeds from the raffle will be dedicated to community initiatives that our Club supports, ensuring that the funds will directly benefit those in need.

 

Last week 7 of us attended the first Community Group 4 meeting led by Gus Rozyski and DG Colin Byron.  The discussion focused on the collaborative efforts and the potential for greater impact in the communities we serve.  The meeting provided an opportunity for open discussion and a chance to promote upcoming events and projects we are involved with.  We exchanged ideas, best practices and will in future be exploring ways we can work together more effectively.

 

Gonny and I attended the Conference Launch last Friday night at the Mulgrave Country Club.  We were joined by many people from our District.  Conference Chair, Wil Cornellisen inspired us to attend the Conference in Bendigo next March 28-30, 2025.  I encourage you to register your interest with Gonny.  She will be sharing more details at our next meeting.  It sounds like it will be a great event, not to be missed!

 

I am looking forward to the Club discussion about the potential Op-Shop.  Sandy Kemp will be leading the presentation and can address any enquiries you may have.  I encourage all members to attend the Club forum and actively participate in the discussion surrounding the proposal.  Your input and support are vital in the decision whether to proceed or not.  After the 30th July presentation, a survey will be forwarded to all members.  If the survey results show positive agreement in principle, we will explore the next steps, however, there would need to be further Club communication before we finalise our decision.  

 

I wish every success for this weekends “High Tea for a Cause” event.  A lot of planning and work has gone into it.  I commend Annette Griffin and the fundraising team for all their hard work.  See you there!
