I continue to be amazed by the incredible work done by each and every Rotarian, and I absolutely love our working group meetings, this is truly where the magic happens. It’s inspiring to see the energy, enthusiasm, and vision that make our club so special.
A well-deserved accolade was recently given to Ray by Westfield, and rightly so! Although I arrived a little late, it was heartwarming to witness the admiration and respect shown by all. Ray’s dedication and passion for Rotary are truly exceptional, our club would not be the same without him.
Not to be overlooked, both Ray and Mark received fantastic grants from Bendigo Bank to support Men’s Health Snack & Chat and Knox Rocks. A huge thank you to Bendigo Bank for their continued support of these important initiatives.
A big thank you also to Geoff for hosting a wonderful coffee catch-up this morning. It was fantastic to see so many Rotarians in attendance, along with our potential first Friend of Rotary, a very exciting step forward for our club!
As for me, Ray will be taking the reins at this week’s meeting, as I’m heading off to the Gold Coast tomorrow. While it’s set to be warm here too, I’m definitely looking forward to some sunshine, and maybe a sneaky little break from my husband and kids!
Yours in Rotary

Congratulations to Ray Siegersma who has won the Westfield Local Hero for Westfield Knox. What a great honour to receive $20,000 to go towards the Youth Skills Shed project. Read the attached article written by the team at Westfield.
Congratulations to Knox Rocks and the Men's Mental Health Hub for both receiving a grant of $3000 from the Bendigo Bank Boronia. We can't thank Bendigo Bank and Manager Steve enough for this very generous contribution. The Bendigo Bank support many community charitable and not for profit organisations. Their support of our programs is greatly appreciated.
What a great night! Moneys raised from the Fines session and Raffle, alongside a Gold Coin Donation was sent to Australian Rotary Health, supporting the Lift the Lid Hat Day.
Hat Day is Australian Rotary Health's longest running mental health research fundraising event, held on the 10th of October every World Mental Health Day.
It is a day to wear an exciting hat and spread awareness of the 1 in 5 Australians suffering a mental health disorder.
On Saturday morning, we met for our 1st monthly Coffee Catch-up at Montano's Patisserie Cafe in Bayswater. It was a great turnout and a lovely morning. We met Kaye, our newest 'Friend of Rotary", who seemed impressed with all that we do. Geoff had us all introduce ourselves to Kaye, and talk about our passions. This will be a regular event with the next date to be advised soon.
NEWS FROM THE ENVIRONMENT TEAM
Use this A-Z Waste Guide to find out how to recycle or dispose of household items in the City of Knox area.
The Rotary Club of Boronia is registered as a donation partner with the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme.
Victoria is divided into 3 zones and of course we sit on the border between two of them, so we’re registered with both the North and East zones. Persons returning containers to any collection point in either zone may nominate us to receive the funds from their donations simply by scanning the attached barcode or entering our Donation Partner ID. All funds contributed will be deposited to our Committee account.
** Remember, you can bring along your empty bottles to our meetings. Our Environment Chair, Annette Griffin, will take them to a recycling location to make a deposit on our behalf.
