WEEKLY BULLETIN    VOLUME 3   ISSUE 12  17th September 2024
SEPTEMBER - BASIC EDUCATION AND LITERACY MONTH

Monique's Message

In July, we hosted a High Tea that enabled us to raise $2,000 for Hayden's Helping Hands. This fantastic organization supports homeless youth, and we are proud to assist in their mission. Hayden, a truly remarkable young man, has dedicated himself to uplifting and empowering these young individuals, and our contribution will undoubtedly make a significant impact. We presented Hayden with our contribution at our last meeting.  Im sure he will put the funds to good use.
At our recent meeting, we also had the pleasure of hearing from Asanka, who gave an inspiring presentation about his involvement with a Pre-School in Sri Lanka called Little Trees Nurtury. Asanka's commitment to nurturing the education of young children in need was both heartwarming and motivating.
At our next meeting, we are excited to welcome Past District Governor Ian Ballantine to our meeting. Ian has a presentation to make to our Club and I look forward to his presence.
I will be attending the District 9815 Presidents meeting tonight, and I am sure it will provide valuable information that I look forward to sharing with all of you. Additionally, a gentle reminder to please complete the survey that was recently sent out. Your feedback is vital as it will help our Fitness Coach tailor the Fit for Purpose program to our Club’s needs. The deadline for responses is September 19th, so please make sure to participate!
On another note, I am pleased to inform you that the goods we collected for Backpacks for Kids have been successfully delivered. We should feel proud of our contributions, knowing they will make a difference in the lives of many children in need.
For our upcoming meeting, we will be focusing on our Working Groups. Given that some groups have expressed a desire for more discussion time, we will adjust the flow of the evening. We will wrap up our formal meeting first and then break into Working Groups, allowing for more extensive conversations and collaborations. I hope you have been taking notes from our last few meetings.  It is time for some Trivia again.  The winner will be able to share some Chocolates with their table!
Mark your calendars for September 24th, when we will hold our 1st Club Assembly for the year. This will be an excellent opportunity for everyone to gain insights into what each Working Group committee has been up to, as well as address some important housekeeping items on the agenda.
Another exciting weekend of Football.  I hope your team goes well (if they are still in it)!
Thank you for your continued dedication and service. Together, let’s keep making a positive impact in our community and beyond!
Take care,

ROTARY NOT IN OUR COMMUNITY

If you see Rotary in your travels then please let us know. Val thanks so much for sharing.

What a lovely Rotary Welcome

Val is on holidays in Norfolk Island and met an amazing Rotarian who was greeting new arrivals at Norfolk airport.  It was such a lovely way to show Rotary in the community. Val missed the meeting but took a pic of the sign to show us all.  The sign is in main street and the club meet near the convict settlement. They share the sections with the Lion’s Club which is again a terrific example of service clubs working together (especially in a small community). Thanks Val for sharing.

KNOX NETWORKING EVENT

We are excited to be hosting our next Volunteer Manager’s Network meeting at the Knox Environment Society where we can ‘NETWORK WITH NATURE’!

Event Details:

Where: Knox Environment Society, 1010 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully (next to FTG Library)

When: Thursday 26th of September

Time: 10-12pm

We have invited ‘The Lizard Wizard’ to share an interactive experience where we can get up close and personal with wildlife while we network!

A wonderful way to focus on caring for our wildlife and environment. Meet Frank the Lizard and Gemini the Python if you dare!

The Knox Environment Society have also kindly offered a tour of their nursery where we can see first hand how volunteering looks for them!

We will end our day with a delicious morning tea and a take home goodie bag!

We hope that you can attend as this is a wonderful way to meet and talk freely with other like minded Managers about all things volunteering.

We have limited spots available so make sure you book in asap with the link below. Bookings close on Friday 20th of September or before if capacity is reached.
