My first “Roundup” as your President!

I’ll be ‘rounding’ up all the important information we have each week including reviewing the week that was and highlighting last week’s guest speakers talk.

So firstly, what a terrific day we had at changeover. The lunch was particularly good and the Social team put together an exceptional program as Bernie handed over the Presidents collar to me. Thank you to all our members who contributed to the day, Jim Sly for putting together the slide show that ran in the background, showing our programs and events for the year, and Mark Smith for his saxophone music. Val Henry (the first female to MC at a changeover) was excellent! It was good to have the District Governor Peter Behm and wife Gail there as well as the Mayor of Knox Paige Kennett. We also had the pleasure of having our founding member Doug Gibson and Ellen attend as well.

Secondly, Congratulations to the award recipients who were so well deserved.

A special mention to Peter Malden who was presented with the Wal Goodwin Award. A very worthy recipient who has worked tirelessly in and on so many different projects and events throughout the year! Thank you Peter.

Thirdly, well done to Gonny and Mark for bidding the highest in the auction for the Very Rare Youth Skills Shed toolboxes and pencil cases (with Bunnings coloured pencils thrown in!) made by the Junior Tradies in the Skills Shed. The $100 you both paid was a great investment for these rare and specially numbered items!

Thirdly, our meeting this week 7th July, will be at Crave Restaurant in Boronia. Please park in the Dorset Square carpark in the 2hr zone. Don’t park directly opposite Crave as it is ½ hr parking only. It is a trial meeting as we have had a few changes at the Knox Club, and we are looking at options. There will be 3 different main dishes available (roast, chicken and fish) and 2 desserts. Orders will be taken on arrival. If you are NOT attending, it is of utmost importance to let us know in Club Runner (or by phone call to Monique Smith or Lyn Shepard) by Sunday night before the next meeting. There will be occasions where events or certain things pop up and you may not be able to come, but please make every effort to update Club Runner every week if you are not coming. There will be more information about this in the coming weeks.

Lastly, I’m feeling very proud to be the President of this amazing Rotary Club. It is an honor and privilege to serve the Club and the community in this role. I’m looking forward to continuing the work Past President Bernie and all the members of our Club have been doing.
