I hope this newsletter finds you all in good health and high spirits! Last night, our Rotary Club had the pleasure of engaging in a productive Working Group evening. The night began with a new tradition to be held on Working Group nights, with a Heads or Tails Quiz. The winner receiving a box of chocolates to share with their table. Well done Bernadette. I’m sure the Youth Working Group were happy about that!
The evening began with our working groups coming together to discuss and collaborate on their ongoing projects and upcoming ideas. It was inspiring to witness the passion and commitment exhibited by each member as they shared updates and exchanged ideas. The working groups truly exemplify the spirit of Rotary, working tirelessly to make a positive impact in our local and global communities.
One particular highlight of the evening was the discussion surrounding the RYLA program. Jane Mifsud, Geoff Griffin, Bernadette Vanderwolde and myself were privileged to spend some time at the RYLA event held in Phillip Island. RYLA, short for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, is a life-changing experience that empowers young individuals to develop their leadership skills and make a difference in the world. Our club had the privilege of hosting two RYLA participants, who shared their experiences and the invaluable lessons they learned during the program. It was evident that the RYLA participants had gained a newfound sense of purpose and determination, making their presence a true inspiration for us all. I look forward to their visit to our Club in the near future, when they can present to us their experiences.
This evening myself and some other members will be attending the first Community Group 4 meeting in Wandin. As part of the Regionalisation Pilot Project, the aim is to create more significant opportunities for Rotary and Rotaract Clubs to better work together. I believe that as a group we should be able to do some good together. I look forward to this collaboration. After all, we are all trying to achieve the same outcome. I will update you on the outcome next week.
A reminder, next weeks meeting is a partner’s night. Please bring along your partner/friend and if you can please register them via ClubRunner, or let me know beforehand. We need to have final numbers to the Knox Club by Tuesday lunchtime. The evening will welcome Gail White as our guest speaker and the night will be themed as Xmas in July. Please come along with a ‘Festive Spirit’, and dress up in your best Xmas Gear!
Another reminder to please secure your tickets for the upcoming ‘High Tea for a Cause’. Lets make this event a successful one. Details are in the bulletin.
Thank you for your commitment to Rotary and our Club.
Take care,
Yours in Rotary
