Ray's Roundup:

What a week it’s been in Rotary!

What a fantastic night we had, celebrating Christmas in July. We had many guests and partners attend, especially the First Lady of the President, Annette!

A huge thank you to Jan and the Social committee for making the night exceptional and special thanks to Lyn for her superb table decorations and creations. The photos were brilliant.

On Wednesday last week Lyn and I went to RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) at Phillip Island Adventure Resort to showcase our Club at the Expo and what we are doing in the youth space. Lyn again excelled with gift bags for the participants who asked the best questions! It was a great afternoon when we were able to meet all 45 of the participants, and 2 of them (Thomas and Mathew) were sponsored by our Club. Then on Saturday I attended the closing ceremony and got to drive them both of them home. They both had a fantastic time and will come to our Club a bit later, to present what they experienced over the 6 days.

I was able to catch-up with Geoff Griffin on Friday to discuss plans for this year in the Membership and Wellbeing committee. We had a good discussion (even though Geoff’s steak was over-cooked , and we look forward to a great year, with new members and Friends of Rotary being a strong focus.

We then had a certificate presentation from Past President Bernie to one of our Men’s Mental Health Hub Snack and Chat counsellors, Inga. Unfortunately, Felicia couldn’t make it and Inga will pass on her certificate at a later time.

Now as part of my RAK (Random Act of Kindness) challenge to the Chairperson each week, we had a presentation from Jan (Chairperson of the night) about her experience at the supermarket, being able to chat to a person in the line. Also helping another customer in the supermarket! What a terrific act of kindness. Well done Jan, you set the bar pretty high.

Geoff attended the Conference launch and of course, our very own Monique, as Chair of the Conference, was there also. It was well attended so save the date March 12-14th 2027 in the Hunter Valley. Early bird bookings open 1st August at $295 per person with early bird pricing until 31st Dec. 2026. More information will be in the Bulletin.

The coffee morning at Montana’s in Bayswater runs on Saturdays and Geoff reminds us of each time it is on. Thank you, Geoff.

Raffle prizes were really good (my First Lady won twice and she offered the re-draw for the second one!)

We are looking forward to a presentation this week from John Murphy SES Deputy Controller Knox Unit.

See ya Round!
