Wow, what a fantastic evening we had at the Knox Rocks Concert! The performances from our talented participants were truly outstanding, and a special thank you goes to Emma for her invaluable assistance in making the night a success. For those who attended, I think you'll agree that the talent showcased by our youth was not only impressive but also incredibly inspiring.
The Knox Rocks program offers numerous benefits to participants, including Creative Expression, Confidence Building, Communication Skills, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Discipline & Commitment, Awareness, Mental Health Benefits, Career Exploration, and Community Building. It’s so good to see firsthand how these experiences shape our young individuals.
I would like to extend appreciation to Mark Smith for his visionary leadership and the countless hours he devoted to bringing this project to life. A big thank you as well to all the volunteers who worked behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly on the night. We couldn't have done it without your support! A special mention also goes to the Social Working Group for organising the delightful dinner we shared beforehand. It was a lovely meal enjoyed in great company.
Our guest speaker at our last meeting, Penny Robinson, shared insightful information about Knox Infolink and the vital work they do to support those in need in our community, providing support for emergency relief items, information and referrals, community building and support. Penny also informed us on the challenges facing the Breakfast Program moving forward. The State Government funding for the breakfast program end on the 15th October 2025, which means that Knox Infolink is unable to hire a new staff member to fulfill the Breakfast Coordinator role, as there is no secured funding beyond this point. The Knox Infolink Board (formerly known as Committee of Management) and staff are working on a concerted effort to fundraise to “Save our Breakfast”.
The Knox Infolink Board and staff are mobilising efforts to fundraise for the “Save our Breakfast” campaign. This initiative will kick off as we approach the end of the financial year and will seek sponsorships from businesses, churches, and the broader community to sustain the program beyond the funding deadline. More information will be shared in the coming months.
As members of our Rotary Club, we join for various reasons—not just to make a difference in the community but also for the social connections we build. Each of you brings unique value to our meetings, and your smiles and conversations make our Club dynamic and vibrant. Whether you contribute a lot of time or just a little, or you simply attend for social connections, every effort counts towards our greater cause. Together, we form a wonderful community. A portion of your membership fee also supports the Rotary Foundation, which carries out significant and impactful work.
Warm regards,
