Club Newsletter
November 2018

Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
Our club is in its 65th year for this Belgrave region but I wonder how many actually know that?

For the 2018-19 period I am your President and look forward to seeing growth in our club and some great fun activities during my time in that role.

One of our goals for the first half of my term is for our club to raise awareness of our existence in this region. You will start seeing banners that we have up on display in places promoting our club. We're currently looking at other avenues to get noticed and are participating in more local events. As a result we've begun reaching out to local action groups and welcome hearing about their activities and how we might be involved.

It is our hope, that during the 2018-19 year we will grow our membership and in that process, be able to grow the amount of activity we carry out to support those who have a need.

We're are currently planning for the first half of the New Year:
  • Our annual Car Show which will be held on 31 March 2019 at Ferny Creek Reserve. We are looking for sponsors right now so if you would like to be involved, please do get in touch. Bookings for stalls and cars will be open soon on our website.
  • Tickets for our annual Raffle are now for sale and you'll see us on Saturday mornings outside Maxis in UFG but in other places too, such as the Tecoma Primary School while we assisted with the fete on Election Day. The raffle will be drawn at the car show in March.
  • Business Breakfast - very much in planning phase right now, as we lock in a venue, but we already have a keynote speaker and we promise it is someone you all know and love. Can't wait to tell you who it is! The event will be held April or May 2019 and I hope to give you more details early in the new year.
  • 65th Anniversary event. We want to make this a public event in the heart of Belgrave and are currently going through ideas and plans for that right now.
  • Corporate membership for businesses - we'd very much like to hear from local businesses that would like to join us! Perhaps you have 2 or 3 staff members who could take turns in attending our meetings representing your organisation.
If you come across a charity or project that is in need of some financial assistance, or hands-on-deck, please do let us know about it, via our website. And we're open to guest speakers too. Our calendar for 2019 is just waiting to be filled.

I hope to update you more regularly of the activities of the Rotary Club of Belgrave.

We've completed our meetings for 2018 and will let you know when we're kicking back off in 2019. In the meantime, keep an eye on our website for more information.

Sincerely

Kathie M. Thomas
President
