First of all: There is an important new development in Rotary Fellowships. The former International Marathon Fellowship (IMFR) has been reorganised and is now open to runners of all distances.

Under the new name RFFR (Rotary Fellowship For Runners), Rotarians and family members who are keen runners are very welcome. No matter whether you regularly run 10 kilometres, have your sights set on a half marathon or dare to run a full marathon: the main thing is that you enjoy running and socialising together.

In the past, international meetings have been held in Europe, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. This year's Fellowship meeting will take place in Munich from 11-14 October.

The interesting programme begins with a "Bavarian" get-together on Friday evening and an exciting tourist programme on Saturday in Munich. The joint pasta party with Rotarian friends on Saturday evening will then whet the appetite for the real highlight of the weekend: the running events on Sunday, 13 October 2024, where over 20,000 runners are expected to experience Munich at different distances. In addition to the 10 km run, there will be a half marathon (21.1 km), a marathon (42.2 km) and a relay marathon. In this marathon relay, four people run the distance together, whereby each individual runner can choose to run between 6 km and 15 km. This is a great opportunity for Rotary clubs in particular to take part in a "running project" together. Of course, the Fellowship also organises relays for individual runners who do not have a running partner.

Children also have the opportunity to take part in the mini marathon. This takes place on Saturday and offers the opportunity to run 3.5 kilometres in the Olympic Park and cross the finish line with applause and a great medal.

The traditional "International Costume Run" also takes place on Saturday. Here, too, 3.5 kilometres have to be completed in traditional costume. Even if you don't take part yourself, it is a spectacle of a special kind that is well worth seeing.

After the run, there will be an atmospheric closing event in the Nymphenburg Palace restaurant in the evening, where all participants can review the weekend together before everyone heads home again on Monday.

This unique opportunity allows you to combine your own sporting activity with the Rotarian idea of helping others and making (international) friends, as the net proceeds from the weekend will go to a Rotarian project.

Hotel bookings are optional, so Rotarians from Munich and the surrounding area are of course welcome to join the Rotarian programme.

The Fellowship is looking forward to seeing "familiar" friends again as well as a large number of Rotarians who want to join this Rotarian event for the first time.
