Our 11th annual charity hike will take us on a beautiful mountain path from Schliersee to Tegernsee with a midday break at a restaurant on the path at Neureuth. In all, the hike should last between 4 and 5 hours with a total of about 12 km distance - including about 600m uphill elevation and downhill walking. The path is unfortunately not suitable for buggies or prams, but is of an intemediary difficulty so that even untrained hikers should be able to manage in decent walking shoes. No rock climbing is involved but as mentioned we will be crossing a mountain, so there is a good deal of uphill and downhill walking involved. As a charitable donation to our club projects we are suggesting to calculate a donation of 0.2 Eurocents per step. (Before we start the hike we will jointly designate whose steps are to be counted). In terms of logistics there are regular trains between both Schliersee and Tegernsee to and from Munich. We propose to meet at Schliersee Bahnhof at 10h am. There is a train departing from Munich Hbf at 9:03h that arrives at Schliersee at 9:56h. Participants can of course also come by car or coordinate a car drop-off in Tegernsee if this can be arranged. Following the hike (and perhaps an additional stop at a cafe/restaurant in Tegernsee) we can all then return to Munich individually or as a group. In Tegernsee there are trains returning to Munich at 15:22h, 15:52h, 16:22h and 16:52h (and so forth). All those who have previously taken part in these October hikes can confirm that the weather may be an issue. We are nonetheless planning to follow through on this hike come rain or shine - it is after all for a good cause. |

The Challenge of preparing young musicians for their professional lives - Prof. Lydia Grün, President of the Munich University of Music and the Performing Arts will speak about the responsibility of preparing young musicians for their professional lives in the best possible way in today’s world – an enormous challenge given the changes in the music industry. To be well equipped for this today requires more than just perfect mastery of an instrument. As a former professor of music mediation, Prof. Lydia Grün is also concerned with fostering an inner attitude in artists that does not lose sight of the world and society. |
