Dr Michael Vogel: Max Beckmann on the Cote d'Azur

Our honorary member Dr. Michael Vogel will present pictures Beckmann created in the early 1940`s while being in exile in Amsterdam. He used postcards he had bought in the 1930s during various visits to the Cote d`Azur.

After the war his first travel outside Amsterdam was Nice in March/April 1947 and he created some artworks following this trip using sketches he had made during the trip.

Altogether he created 37 pictures about the Cote d`Azur. Michael will discuss about 8 of them in detail.
