New Club Member's Induction
Last Wednesday evening we welcomed three new members into The Rotary Club of Mornington. With the emphasis from within all levels of Rotary from local, District, Zone and RI
to "work on" increasing their individual Clubs Membership and it was extremely pleasing to witness our Club moving ahead within this sphere. Our three new members bring a vast wealth of experience from life skills and more importantly valuable skills from their professional background within the scope of Community involvement and Management and Logistics. To Judy Benholz, Steve Perera and Cameron Guymer, welcome and we hope that our Club and for the matter Rotary in general offers what you have been seeking for your participation in Serving The Community.

Our clubs three new members: Cameron 2nd from the Right, Steve third and Judy 5th, accompanied by their hosts, Ian and Pam and our Club President at last week New Member Induction Ceremony.

Last Weeks - Club Meeting - Mr Alwin Tan
At last weeks Club Meeting we had to say the least a very different and what proved to be an very entertaining Guest Speaker, being Mr Alwin Tan. Alwin is part of our own The Bays Hospital and is one of the leading Urologist's not only on the Peninsula but within Australia. To say Alwin is a Urologist is somewhat of an understatement when you listen to the gent talk, the overriding persona is he is a passionate, fully devoted and "red cordial 24/7" Medical Professional who is dedicated to treating and curing men form this hidden danger. His presentation was on a subject that over the years has been "not spoken out out aloud" that being Prostate Cancer. Well rest assured this once "kept behind closed doors subject" was all "out there" with no restrictions or inhibitions. Alwin started the evenings proceedings with appointing us as all new potential deputised "bum inspectors" !! and all present were issued with that surgical rubber glove and we were all provided with a detailed account of what it was involved with a physical Prostate Examination, what a start to a Rotary Club Meeting.
Alwin's presentation provided  some very funny videos PPT shows to pictorial presentations, statistics and interesting facts, but underneath all of this was the glaring fact that in VIC at present more men die from Prostate Cancer as opposed to women who die from Breast Cancer, definitely not a static from both genders that you want to hear. The very clear and loud message that Alwin brought home was to get checked out on a regular basis and whatever you do , and this part is vitally important advice " don't rely on the PSA Blood Test alone as your final answer, make sure you have the Physical Examination!  By the time Prostate Cancer develops as a physical medical condition that you notice in your body it very well may be too late to cure !!!!

A room full of deputised "bum inspectors" !! all complete with their tools of the trade !

The Peninsula Trail Update - Wed 30th Mar 22 @ 5;00pm
As per the Presidents Report (attached)  from the recent Peninsula President's Cluster Meeting on Sunday all present were provided with an update on the current status of play of the Peninsula Trail. Ross Kilborn provided an brief overview of what has recently occurred and what is expected to come. The current Council & State Gov grants, Councils Planning Priorities the amazing amount of Financial Grants currently in trust and the hands on the ground involvement form all our Peninsula Clubs was provided. So our own Ross Kilborn will be providing an information session to all our Club Members this coming week, prior to our weekly Club Meeting. This will be an oppurtunity for all our members to see whats happening on the ground in our local town area. If you are free for the hour prior to the Club Meeting don't miss this information session, this Wednesday evening in The Stratton Room commencing at 5:00pm

Western Port - Sea Grass Working Group
Environment and Sustainability
As mentioned over the last few weeks a hands invitation was sent out to those Rotarian's within the Peninsula to plant some grass in Western Port ! Well last weekend saw a few intrepid Rotarians roll up there sleeves and get down and get dirty by actively planting and re-generating the vital environmental stable of seagrass within the mud flats of Western Port Bay, and from all accounts a very messy but enjoyable and environmentally worthwhile time was spent.

A very clean group of Rotarians just about to start the seagrass planting fro all accounts the after photo was to messy to distinguish, well done

Peninsula Presidents Cluster Meeting
Yesterday morning I attended our six weekly Peninsula Presidents Cluster Meeting and it was great to see for nearly twelve months a near capacity face to face turn out. There are many projects and events happening around our neighbouring Rotary Clubs, from re- formatted once a month Club Meetings to Counselling Services to disadvantaged youth and a fair amount of Social Gatherings. I have recently been approached/ asked by quite a few of our Cub Members, “ what are the other Rotary Clubs on the Peninsula up to with projects and community involvement  ?“ and this was pleasing to hear that our members are interested in our fellow Clubs, so from this I will circulate, once I get a copy, of The Presidents Cluster Meeting Minutes, thanks for those members who are showing an interest, and maybe we can plan for a Peninsula Cluster dinner later this Calendar year.

Mornington Rotary Clubs Plaques/ Signage
Thanks to those Club Members who undertook a clean up / rearrangement of Clubs Conex just off Watts Road a few weeks ago, well done and I hope the spiders and creepy crawlies didn’t deter you, and from that a thanks goes to Victor for presenting what appears to be a long lost Plaque for placement on one of our clubs Rotundra Structures and a second one to re- mounted, all via the handy hands of Peter Jay, many thanks Peter, and how are those Saints of your's going ?

Upcoming Club Guest Speakers
Over the next four to five weeks we have a number of Guest Speaker’s who will be presenting a range of interesting topics, the Guest Speakers are listed on our Weekly Bulletin and please remember, if your not sure who's coming to our Club over the coming week's to ‘ open up our Club’s Web Page which provides a full of Guest Speaker details.
