This week’s meeting
We have a club assembly to talk about our community projects and membership.
Before dinner we will talk about the community projects. At the end of this Bulletin is a summary of the community projects we currently have on the table (none are committed). Of course so far this financial year there was $7500 provided to the Mornington Community Support Centre for their film production on homelessness. We also provided Bunnings vouchers and $1250 to the Men’s Shed, for materials to be used to sell woodwork products to raise funds for the Bays Hospital.
The Long Table, whilst not yet finished is complete from our Club’s perspective, other than acquitting a government grant.
After dinner there will be a brief summary of the membership discussion from our February meeting, then everyone will have an opportunity to say what they can do to help grow our membership.
Last week’s meeting

We had Carolyn Such from the Rotary Club of Mt.Eliza, and Kay McAuley District 9820 Chair of Interplast, outline both what Interplast does (repairing bodies and rebuilding lives) and the proposal currently before all the clubs in the cluster, to fund an Interplast Project. The team of volunteers including 2 surgeons, anethesists and nurses will undertake around 50 operations involving reconstruction and plastic surgery in either Fiji or the Solomon Isl, in early 2023.
There is a dinner on November 8 at Toorak College in MtEliza to meet the Interplast team. We are invited to take a table, with the cost being $70ph.
Importantly we need to make a decision before that dinner as to whether, and with how many $ we support the project. Each of the eight clubs in the cluster are being asked for $5000, for a total of $40,000 with the balance being made up by private donations and Mt.Eliza Rotary Club.

Moondah Furniture Clearance
We continue to work with both Mt.Eliza and Mt.Martha Rotary Clubs on a project to sell as much of the furniture as we can, from the Moondah building to raise funds for the Mornington Community Support Centre. Likely date of the sale is February Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 2023 so please put them in your diary now.
Community Projects
We are meeting the Bays n two weeks, via Jo, to research a suitable project with them over the next couple of years.
The other projects on the table relate to the Peninsula Trail at either
1. Mornington Station – a choice of a major landscaping and beautification project, to extending the platform as suggested by the Railway Society, a new station building or as simple as a picnic table
2. Gateway Park – we have $10k of Council Funding for another table or we could add to that and do more ? A childrens’ playground ? A bouldering park ? Or ?
3. The Eastern Green Link – plant say 500 trees along it, avenues of honour etc ? (it runs from the highway to the beach along the old railway easement)
(We will likely ask to contribute say $1000 or some Rotary specific signage on the trail. We also have $3500 from Council for a walking and riding map for Mornington. The Hunters Crossing Revegetation project is effectively complete, again except some acquittal payments and reports).
And the only other thing is our Santa Train Trip on Sat Dec 3 - $1000.
So which of these do you support? Or what else do you have ?
