6th June 2022- Club Bulletin
From The Editor;

Good afternoon to all my fellow Mornington Rotary Club Member's and Partners, well Winter is certainly amongst us and this will no doubt see a slowing down of Club goings-on and the "departure" of some of our members to warmer climates. I have already received a note from Joe Siragusa who cheekly informs us of the 28o warm and sunny days in Darwin and I also received a note fro Jo Davis who was " catching up" with the newly Wed Kilborn's for a cafe latte up Noosa way, No doubt over the coming months we will see this trend continue, and experiencing the Melbourne days over this past week and many more to come, probably a wise move to "seek the sun"

Club Meetings:
Last week our Club instigated the new theme for our alternative Club Meeting with the "New and the Old ". Cameron Guymer and Peter Jay were the first cabs off the rank, and to all accounts some very interesting at least known facts were presented. With Peter he informed of us of his “on& off” 50 years of being a registered master builder. This included 8-9 years running the Newsagency in Main Street (near The Bays Hospital), as well as a stint as a Real Estate Agent for a Mornington Agent, before getting back into the building game, being joined by his son Simon. After some health issues he has decided it is time to step back & ‘enjoy life’, travel & more golf!!  His son Simon has now taken over & is busy expanding the scope of the business! – with Peter lending a hand as required, without getting up too many ladders!. From the old tar we then heard from young Cameron who informed us of his exploits, via dot point: Went to Melb Uni to do Art/Commerce degree, Joined the 'Ready Reserve' as infantry soldier while at Uni (deferred uni), After uni was 1 of 4 who entered the annual Graduate Management intake program with TNT, Worked in Transport for several years, Owned a Ray White franchise for 3 years on the Gold Coast, Did a turnaround at Star Couriers (from losing ~ $0.9M pa to modest profit) before the parent company (KIngs Transport) sold it for $3M
Kings Transport  then sent me to fix up the unproductive operation running the international DC in Laverton for Country Road clothing, By this time I had a rep as corporate and operational 'fixer' of 'too hard basket' businesses ,Landed role as CEO of Amtel Corporation (they service the Myki Ticketing System, ~ 45% of pokies in VIC/NSW/SA, all Crown Casino machines etc). Was losing ~ $2.8M go them back in the black and growing within ~ 9 months. After a couple of years I resigned looking for someone fresh to do of 'fix', Then ran the B2B and Bid/Proposal team at Kent Relocations (won a bunch of new clients etc including some large mining industry clients), Then came back to Amtek a few years later when they were in a little trouble again (they asked me to come back)
Then started my virtual real estate business 'Bell Booth Real Estate' but couldn't get it funded to scale during COVID
Have now started an import business (as a side hussle) for medical products from Sweden/Norway markets + setting up SunErgy P&C (we are installing micro solar power grids into the Solomon Islands and the Pacific Region), Finally... I have just landed a day job as COO for a tech startup (they are 3-4 years old) call Espire Digital Lode https://thelode.com.au/ > they develop online games for VR headsets (funded by Oculus who are a subsIdiary of Facebook). Very exciting gig with a lot of market upside, potential to IPO etc. I start on Monday (i.e. in 2 days' time).

Presidents Report

Good afternoon to my fellow Mornington Rotarian’s, by now you may have heard that I have been a bit unwell, so from one who has been intensely studying the back of his eyelids over the past seven days there is not a great deal to report from the President’s Desk.

This time of the year once again witnesses’ a great deal of office/ positional turnarounds at all levels of Rotary Club’s, which is accompanied with fair amount of e-mail invitations to celebrate and acknowledge our new President Elecet’s at change over functions and the like.
Within our own Peninsula Cluster, the changes are:
Dromana:                             Greg Fitzgerald
Hastings Western Port:        Eric McKenzie (continuing)
Mornington:                         Brian Mann (continuing)
Mount Eliza:                        John Welsh
Mount Martha:                    Bill Branthwaite
Rosebud – Rye:                  PDG Philip Hedley
Somerville – Tyabb:           Dick Cox OAM
Sorrento:                             Brian Stacey
District Governor:              DG Paul Mee

Our own District 9820 will hold its District Changeover Lunch at 12 noon for 12.30pm, on Sunday 26th June at Warragul Country Club. 41 Sutton St Warragul. $40pp. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend and should any Board Members or Club Members wish to attend in my stead please let me know and I can provide the specific Booking Details to you and your Partner.

An interesting note: Our Special Guest Speaker two weeks ago in Ben Smith the new Manager of the MICSC mentioned within his presentation that fact of the number of hoses that are currently “unoccupied “within the peninsula and the 100% turnaround of not one overnight emergency house available. This point was raised as page 1 news on our own Mornington News this week “homes empty as hundreds go homeless “
