Good after afternoon to all,
Ranch Motel
An article in last weeks MPNG has revealed that the proposed commercial development on the current site of the Ranch Motel has not been successful which indicates that the current accommodation which caters for the homeless may indeed be an ongoing resource. Watch this space, and thanks Pam.
On line membership Chat
Last Wednesday evening our 9820 District conducted an open online forum, hosted by Linda Humphries out District Governor Nominee. This forum was very informative and it was very interesting to hear a many different ways that Clubs are attracting new members, with marked difference from some of the more traditional methods. A few of own Mornington Rotary Club Members tuned in and this was pleasing to see.
Club Board Meeting
Last week we convened a Board meeting with a number of important items tabled of which:
* The new (2022-2023) Shire Community Investment Funding Policy,
* The Disaster Aid funding for a Water Hydrant in Bhutan
* Art Show progress/ planning and in particular the matter pertaining to the Raffle and the Entry Costs to the Show
* The community Centre and the proposal for future development of the Native Garden
* Membership and the matter of attracting New Members of which a proposed future meeting, when allowed, to specifically present this topic.
* Youth Report, in which our Chair Judy presented many items of business many of which will be subject to going ahead in face to face subject to the current Lockdown Restrictions
Our Secretary Ian has promulgated the Minutes from the Board Meeting to all members, via an e-mail on Thursday just gone, which provides specific and detailed information.
Lift The Lid
As most of us are aware our Clubs Lift The Lid presentation evening which is one of the highlightsâ of our Clubs Meetings. The Schools Presentation that our local school children attend is very informative evening and it always great to see our Youth so involved in the Community. Our Youth Chair Judy S has been in contact with our local schools and discussing the subject of the Schools Presentation Night at our Club to which there was a somewhat hesitant response with a very limited time line of dates for the children to be availible. So last week I had some in-depth and lengthy discussions with our Youth Chair Judy and also with John R. The discussion centred around the adverse effects that Lockdown and subsequent home schooling is having, the ability for the children to get back to school and focus on their immediate education requirements, (which is the No 1 priority) the upcoming end of year examinations and our ability to host a face to face Schools Presentation at our Club venue have all resulted in a decision that pains me to have to inform you of the postponement/ cancellation of this years Schools Presentation. Hopefully we can get back together sometime in School Term No1 in early 2022.
