Good afternoon to all my fellow Mornington Rotarians and Partners. Well, another Rotary Year has concluded, and we now step straight into a brand-new Rotary year and a new Club President with a few new faces on the Board. This will be my last Club Bulletin, for some time, as like all good Rotarians its time to head North, for warmer climates that will see Jenny and I back in Melbourne in late September. Our beautiful and exuberant Youth Chair, Judy Seager, will be looking after the Club Bulletin over my absence along with emails of note from our Club President Pam.
Last Weeks Board Meeting
Last Wednesday fortnight we held the obligatory Combined Board meeting with the old and the new incoming Board sitting together to manage the Clubs on going administrative processes. By now all members should have received a copy of the Minutes for your perusal. One item of note was the Youth Report which contained a great overview of the past few months of all the many ongoing avenues by which our Club has focused a lot of energy, time and financial contributions to what is a vital part of our support for the Youth of today and into the future
Club Change Over
On Wednesday of last week, we held our Club Changeover at the Mornington Community House. What a fantastic night, from all accounts that have come thru since, it was a tremendous success. To add to the evening, we saw our President focus and “multitask “to have the evening serve two purposes and the second was to have the Changeover as a fundraiser with a significant financial contribution of some $1,640.00 going to our own Mornington Community Support Centre
One very special item of extreme note during the evenings proceedings was the acknowledgement and recognition of one of Rotary’s true gentleman, and I’m speaking of Geoff Gilsensn.
After serving an amazing 50yrs in Rotary Geoff was bestowed by a very special presentation of a very, very well earned PHF with a double Sapphire Pin. But this were the accolades didn't end, Geoff then received a plaque from our Immediate Past Rotary International President, Jennifer Jones, and one could say probably the highest honour a Rotarian could receive. Well done Geoff and with 50 years of dedicated serve to Mornington Rotary you truly deserved these honours.

Presidents Report - 5th July 2023
Thank you again to everyone who made our Changeover Night such a special evening. Happy to confirm that we raised $1,640 for the Mornington Community Support Centre. I’m sure you’ll agree that Roberta and her team did a marvellous catering job!
Congratulations again to Geoff Gilsenan on his retirement from Rotary. He wrote and thanked me for the honours bestowed upon him by the club after his 50 years’ of service and said it was a memorable night.
Now to July.
This week we have Richard Godden coming to talk to us about the Kailaki Village Project in Papua New Guinea. It’s a proposal to install a pipeline over a creek to take running water from the village to the School and Teachers’ Houses.
Next week is our combined meeting with Mt Eliza Rotary Club. We have Steven Johnston from C2A coming to speak. Together with Mt Eliza and Frankston we donated $4k to the purchase of new computers.
On Wednesday 19 July, there will be a brief board meeting at 5pm, followed by Club Assembly. I will be presenting the budget for FY24 which has been approved by the Board.
This is your opportunity to bring any ideas you may have for fund-raising or special projects.
Finally on 26 July we have Kim Naude coming to speak. She works in the Department of Medicine at Monash University.
