23rd May 2022- Club Bulletin
From The Editor;

Good afternoon to all my fellow Mornington Rotary Club Member's and Partners, I hope all is well and you are all managing to keep warm on these chilly/ foggy nights, but what great balmy Autumn weather we have during the daylight hours, and speaking of warmer weather I have received a rather interesting pic that was sent too me last week from an unknown source, as per below:
This gent was last seen up North on a beach, and to all accounts and from the local residents he was endeavouring to impersonate a fit, muscular, young Surf Life Saving Guard, if seen please return to Melbourne !!!

Club Meetings:
Last week, on Wednesday we hosted our Guest Speaker Mr Martin Galea who is the current director of Tick Box Conveyancing. Martin was introduced by our own Club Member in Joe Siragusa, and Joe's introduction alluded us to his own personal experience of a very, very interesting situation that required the need, services and very valuable expertise, of the somewhat very convoluted process some of us have probably found ourselves when dealing with buying/ selling homes and or property. Martin's presentation was to say the least an eye opener and one of his topics was that of the pitfalls that you can unwittingly find yourself in with home and property dealings. Such was Martins presentation that it certainly highlighted the requirement when entering into property dealings to make sue " you have all your T's crossed and your I's dotted".

Hunters Crossing/ Tanti Project

On Saturday morning, just gone, saw a number of  Club Member's roll up their sleeves and pitch in to "spread the bark"and plant a large number of native shrubs along Tanti Creek. This project is one of the many undertakings that is part of the bigger picture of linking a number of our towns neglected green spaces into one large Trail for the Community. Under the guidance of Marty, from The Friends Of Tanti Creek, we started the morning off with a convey of Wheelbarrows and spades spreading about 12 Cubic Metres of bark/mulsh oolong two embankments of the creek. Once this was achieved the next step was to clear a small space in the bark, dig, plant water in, protect via the plant guards and finally backfill, certainly an all hands on deck effort, and the effort was well worth the results, well done to those Club Members and Friends of Tanti Creek who helped out..

From this (huge lump of bark) to this, a great looking native plant border along the Tanti Creek embankment.

A selection of some of the many pics taken throughout the morning's work, and a special point to note, the ever reliable Neil Frost, turned up first on the job in the fog at 8:30am, just goes to show you age is no barrier and well done young Neil.

This Weeks Club Meeting
Our own local MCISC has a new manager being Mr Ben Smith. Our Club President, Community Chair and also Club Member Cameron Guymer, informally meet with Ben last week to introduce our Club and provide a brief background of our past and ongoing involvement in this vital community Service. Ben also provided us with an update of all things Community and his ongoing and future plans for the Centre and all the Services it provides . From Ben's brief overview he certainly is very enthusiastic and we can be no doubt that he has a passion and a very professional approach to the task's at hand and into the future. We look forward to Ben as our Special Guest Speaker this week on Wednesday 25th May 2022

Presidents Report
Community Tree Planting
Last Saturday morning, as per the Bulletin Report, we saw a few Club Members partake in a very worthy Community Project and I would like to extend a very big thanks to those members who braved the early morning fog and the slightly chilly temperatures to lend a hand, well done

The Winter “ Wind Down”
With the colder months and diminishing daylight is very shortly about to catch up with us and the exodus of quite a few Club Members which is usually occurs soon after our Change Over Function, in late June, the month’s of July to August will see our Clubs weekly meeting still proceed but with a slightly different theme. Our Guest Speaker’s will most likely be a on fortnightly basis with the alternative weeks comprised of Club Member’s both old and new presenting their individual Bio’s. As we have a number of new Club Member’s this “ quieter times “ provides us with an opportunity to engage in a more social and relaxed weekly meeting environment.

Homelessness
Most of us may have read the front page article in last week’s MPNG in regards to the “Car sleeper’s Rise Amid Housing Crisis” and no doubt this all reminds us of the terrible plight that affects so many in the community that are struggling to be able to have the very basics of what we all take for granted. At this week Club Meeting we may hear more of this from our Guest Speaker.
