Last Weeks Club Meeting - Membership Forum At last weeks Club Meeting it was great to see a good turnout with a number of members and also invited Guests in the form of potentially new Club Members all contribute to our Membership Forum. The evening was Chaired in the main by our Membership Chair, Ross Kilborn, who provided a very interesting and interactive presentation. With some Rotary Clubs on the decline in relation to members and in particular what we would call " active members ", Ross posed via what some could call an old fashioned but effective presentation by inviting all present to "fill in the missing spaces" on the pro forma with your thoughts, idea's and possible methods by which we can attract new members to our Club. Some of the questions, as an example were: what do believe is the ideal members for Mornington Rotary ? what is the most important factor to maintain long term members and conversely to retain new members ?and what are the personal and professional demographics of what we are looking for in new members ?. With these questions completed and the following open house discussion a number of very important and relative points were discussed. Our scribe for the evening Jo, took many notes and from this Ross and the Membership Committee will look at every item and over the coming weeks we should see a overview of the members as a consensus to be presented at a later date, and to that end so pleasing was the overall meeting's topic there will no doubt need to be a brief follow up meeting to finalise the items of presentation with a way ahead to come. Well done Ross and the Membership Committee and all those who participated. When love is in the air, and all we see is red and white, the colours resonating the feeling of love, affection. For the uninitiated, the day gets its name after a mysterious saint, though it is believed that it could owe its origin to more than one person. Its true origin is still very vague. According to the legend, the day is celebrated to mark the death anniversary of Saint Valentine who died in mid-February in 270 AD. It is said that Saint Valentine was a priest, who defied emperors’ orders and secretly married couples to spare husbands from war. He was reportedly beheaded by Emperor Claudius II Got Birthdays This week our Club we acknowledge a few Birthdays of three or our members, and on behalf of the President, The Board all our Members and Partners we wish to acknowledge and wish a very Happy Birthday to young Eileen Prudden, today on Valentines Day !!!!! how goods that, a bit of a special effort I'm sure from Ian , Ross Kilborn this coming Thursday and Dennis Corke on Saturday, well done and we wish you all many more to come. Presidents Report - 14th Feb 2022 Good afternoon to all, New Membership Applications It is with great pleasure that we have received x 3 New Members Applications being for Jedy Benholz , Cameron Guymer and Steve Perera. The nominated new members have shown a vested interest in join The Rotary Club of Mornington and subsequently have confirmed their interest in joining by attending a number of meetings and in one case Volunteering for two Community Projects. This is extremely pleasing and “ adds weight ‘ to the work already undertaken by Our Membership Chair and Committee. Proposed visit to Fusion The management staff of FUSION have been in contact with our Club over the past two weeks and as mentioned / requested at our last Club Meeting, last week, it is proposed to “ physically visit the Facility”. To view and conduct a PR visit for the New Change room / Bathroom Facility Our Art Show Presentation Dinner has been re-scheduled and will take place on Wednesday 02 Mar 22. Which will see our Art Show Chair, Richard present a “ wrap –up of the 50th Anniversary – Mornington Art Show Mornington Rotary 75th Anniversary - The Past 25yrs Bio Mini Project With our upcoming Club’s 75th Anniversary to be celebrated on 21st April a proposed Gala Dinner has been proposed to held at The Mornington Golf Club on Thursday 21st April 2022. Victor Sullivan and Geoff Gilsenan have commended a mini project to “ fill in the gap “ of the past 25yrs of major Club Events, and I would propose that we formulate a number on tasking’s to ensure that we mark this special occasion and endure that all current and invited past members and VIPS are presented with a memorable evening. Club Chairs - " Road Ahead " With the structure and continuity of our current Board who have very generously agreed to continue into the Rotary Year 2022/ 2023, I would propose that that each individual Chair with the consensus and input from their committee members instigate a “ plan ahead for the remainder of this Rotary Year” and for 2022/ 2023 with their projected overall aims and vision for presentation at our Clubs, next Club Assembly planned for late Mar / early Apr 2022. Membership Forum - Our recently conducted Membership Forum, as last weeks Club Meeting produced a number of very pleasing interaction and with input from all members present a number of key items were formulated for the way ahead in which we may attract new members to our club. From this Ross and his Membership committee now have a number of items to ‘ work thru “ and it appears that a second Membership Forum will be on the agenda. Brian |
