Good morning to all my fellow Mornington Rotarians, their Partners and families, well what a great week we have had so far, in regards to not only the weather but more importantly the ability to get out and about and hopefully we can look forward to many more leading up to XMAS. If we all do the right thing in regards to the new COVID guidelines I can't see any reason why we cannot have a near to usual Christmas and New Year. I ventured down Main St yesterday for a Physio Appointment and a wake me up morning coffee and it was pretty much packed , and it was great to see everyone abiding by the guidelines, well done Mornington residents and visitors. I'm sure that there is one of our fellow Rotarians who has a board smile on his face, to see his beloved Main St alive and kicking , and I refer to our own Neil Frost. Fingers crossed all going well over the next three weeks it well may be we see young Neil on the " huskings " promoting the Art Show to all he comes across in the Main St.

For those who dabble in the GG's today brings another first for our beautiful State of Victoria , that first Tuesday in November , and without a punter in sight.  No beautifully dressed ladies in their fascinators and high heels and those debonair Gentleman in a fine threads, but I'm sure that there will be lots and lots of tables pre booked at our local Cafe's Pubs and eateries with lots of bubbly and cups sweeps going on, good luck and I hope your horse comes in, first that it  !!!

Last weeks Club Meeting

Last week we had a break from our usual Club Meeting to hold a Board Meeting.  A number of issues were discussed and without going into detail for those who wish to view the minutes of the Board Meeting you can view all the documentation and reports on our Clubs Web Page, under the  "Drop Down Tab" of Members only,  and also our President has provided a brief insight into matters raised, at the Board Meeting, within this weeks Presidents Report.  We had our Secretary young Ian " out of action " with a wounded wing and the not so nice prospect of another seven weeks in a sling !!. And at this Board Meeting saw a " ring in " join us via ZOOM all the way from Buchan in Gippsland, that being Peter Jay our Community Chair, doing a great job in volunteering some 5 days for Blaze Aid, well done Peter.

Upcoming Club Meeting- Wednesday 4th Nov - Guest Speaker:

Our next scheduled Club Meeting will be tomorrow evening, Wednesday 4th November 2020, and at this weeks meeting we will welcome a fellow Rotarian , Mr Peter Sindrey, from the Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance. If you tuned in and viewed last weeks Club Bulletin you will have seen Peter taking delivery of some 1000 trees donated from our club for re-planting in the East Gippsland fire ravaged area's, so Peter will provide us with an update and the progress of the re-generation project.

Also we will also hear from Peter Jay and his and his fellow volunteers and all the great work they are doing for the farmers in the Buchan area in the re-building of property fencing. There are a number of pics, below , that I'm sure Peter will be able to relate to all of us in regards to the "somewhat slightly hilly terrain " that he was working in !!

So this week will be a Post Bushfire Recovery Presentation , so if you are  free for another a great night, please tune-in , log-on with a glass of Red and for Ian Horton , sorry my friend with all those antibiotics in your system maybe a shandy.

Blaze Aid - Property Re-Fencing - Gippsland

Please find, as shown, below, a  brief selection of images provided to us from Peter of the area of fencing recovery / rebuild in the Buchan area of Gippsland, well done to Peter and his fellow fencing volunteers.

Birthdays/ Anniversaries

Next week we will see quite a few of our Members and Partners celebrate their Birthdays and as well as some anniversaries, in all six birthday boys and girls, so it may be that our first face-to face social get together, scheduled for Wednesday 11th November, all going well, we can celebrate with a cake and a few candles.  The names and dates of those to be acknowledged hopefully will " sung out " next week. Are you one of them ?????

On behalf of our President, The Board, all our Club Members and their Partners we would like to pass on our very heartfelt sympathy to our very much loved and respected fellow member Ted Moore and his family on the passing of his beautiful wife and mother Philippa.

We have a Bushfire Relief night where our Guest Speaker is Peter Sindrey from the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale. Brian will host the night and also give a report on the recent delivery of 1000 trees, and Peter J will update us with his week at Blaze Aid in Buchan.

I am hoping that the following week, Nov 11, we will have a social function at the Long Table, weather permitting. I am suggesting we start at 5pm and BYO everything, including partner, for an enjoyable drink and meal. We will make a decision based on the weather forecast on Monday morning, and let you know by email. If it does not work for the 11th we will do it on the 25th. Eileen is in contact with the hotel about when we might be able to resume there.

The following week the 18th is the AGM on Zoom and you will receive the Agenda later this week.

Last week was a Board Meeting

There was no major new business and the discussion was largely around preparation for the AGM and the Art Show. The Art Show is obviously dependent on our COVID Safe Plan, which has been drafted, and what happens with community transmissions. We could be thwarted right up to and even during the Show, but right now preparation is well underway for another great show.

Mornington Community Information and Support Centre

On Friday I did attend the Annual General Meeting of the MCISC, of which Fran is Secretary, and was re-elected. If you are interested in learning more of the great work they do, their annual report is at

The Bay Trail.

One of the significant projects we are exploring is the Bay Trail. As you know the Cluster of Peninsula Clubs, has agreed this to be the Centenary Project.  Next week the Cluster representatives are meeting with Council Officers to talk about what project(s) Clubs can undertake to enhance the Bay Trail. The intent is to commence in 2021, to coincide with the Centenary, but we recognise the project(s) may extend over several years. You may have seen Council’s advocacy for State Government Funding of the Bay Trail on the front page of the Mornington Peninsula News last week.
