From the Editor Good morning my fellow Mornington Rotarians. Well we have woken up to a good old traditional Melbourne Winter's morning in Autumn !! nice and chilly and a Pea Soup fog. As we go into another week of lockdown it's now feeling like the normal lifestyle , and thats a bit scary. Calling on my past experiences and so called expertise from my Air Force Physical Training Training days, it was a standing order that any personal coming from the colder Southern States up to Darwin , by the research from our Medical Dr's emphasised that we were not permitted to conduct any Fitness Testing or any strenuous form of PT, for a period of six to seven weeks. This was the advice we received from the AIS and the Australian Medical Association. Apparently this is the minimum time it took your body to acclimatise to the change in temperature and the humidity factors. Well six weeks in lockdown and I am just wondering is this the case when it comes to our lifestyle and in particular our social and all the physiological factors, this gives us only another week or two and we just might be " locked into this way of life " !!! . Then I just take a moment and think about going to the G for the footy, off to the Pub for a meal and a beer, a great walk around the Golf Course or that special weekend away with family and friends, and I've realised I can't wait to get out !!! Don't care what the guru's say about a new lifestyle, for me it can't come soon enough. !!! Last week Eileen came up a great idea of " raise a glass & cheers", so we could, to some degree enjoy ones another company , if only from a distance . Well I've had a few photo's sent thru as well as another isolation project. Cheer's My Isolation Project This week we have the Parkinson's in full swing with a garden project . Some photos of a “small” project that Barb and myself completed last week. It involved taking down a huge free standing trellis which ran the length of the fence and the vines that had over the years grown over it. Once the trellis was removed we replaced some palings, painted the fence and the fence toppers which had to be constructed as Bunnings only have 500 mm high toppers and we needed 600 mm to match the height of the side fence. All we have left to do is to get rid of the rubbish and plant less vigorous climbers. John Parkinson lifting and toting some heavy rocks around the garden and looking a bit jaded ! Cheers and Raise a Glass Eileen and Ian with a great glass of Red, and it was great to see that we could get out in the Driveway to recognise and reflect of all those ANZAC's, well done Ian. Ross and Lyn with a glass of Red John and Maree with a cheers, the attire looks somewhat ???? A very fine looking meal from the Horton's Wasn't Uber was it ?? Ross and Lyn's Pizza with a glass of Cianti ??? Brian & Jenny Mann celebrating their 24th Wedding Anniversary, at home, with a fine bottle of Bubbly A Moment of Reflection To all our brave and dedicated Medical, Health Care Workers and Emergency Services out there doing such a great job in these very, very trying times we extend a huge heartfelt thanks for your support and dedication to the community, Well Done . And a moment to reflect and admire the wonderful job our Victorian Police Force do every day constantly out there putting there lives on the line to protect and serve the community, our thoughts and prays are with you and the family of four truly wonderful Police Officer's. Thank You. |
