About David
David Barrow was born and raised in Denton, Texas. His documentary, When We Were All Broncos, chronicles the years between the Quakertown diaspora and 1972, when Barrow's integrated football team became the first Denton team to reach the state playoffs in 47 years. Since its premiere in 2014 at the Thin Line Film Festival, the film has been recognized by the community and the school district as a significant record of segregation and desegregation in Denton. For two years running, the film aired on KERA and has become a staple resource for high school classes, community groups, and others who want to know more about this period of change in our city’s history. Barrow’s greatest hope is that his documentary will continue to spur discussion about the legacy of segregation and discrimination in our community and help point the way toward a more just and equitable future for all of Denton’s citizens.
