A Look at the Pollinator Garden One Year Later
In June 2022, Denton Noon Rotary (led by Linda Dodson) with support from Denton Evening, Lake Cities and Pilot Knob Rotary clubs created a Monarch Migration garden in the back of Serve Denton on Loop 288.
The purpose of the garden is to create a peaceful and meditative space for employees of Serve Denton to take a break, eat their lunch and watch the children of families who are being counseled inside the building.
This garden is certified by Monarch Watch International (https://monarchwatch.org) as an official Monarch Migration Waystation. The garden, now 1 year old is overflowing with host and nectar plants for Monarch butterflies as they migrate from Mexico to Canada in the spring. Did you know it takes 5 generations of Monarchs to make that trip every year? It’s a generational miracle!
The garden also brings other pollinators such as bees, local butterfly species, and maybe even a hummingbird or two.
Painted by former Denton Noon Rotarian, Kathy Langley, the Little Free Library is home for children’s book about nature, animals and family in both English and Spanish.
Rotarians who have children’s books at home may donate them to Serve Denton’s Little Free Library by contacting member Karen McDaniels or Pat Smith at Serve Denton..
