Lights Out Texas, help save migratory birds this fall!

The peak fall migration period for birds takes place from September 6th through October 29th. Light pollution can make birds vulnerable to collisions with buildings. The City of Denton encourages citizens and businesses to reduce light pollution during both fall and spring migration. Lights Out Texas offers these tips to help reduce light pollution:
- Extinguish or dim exterior, lobby/atrium lighting, or lighting in perimeter rooms;
- Avoid unshielded floodlights, lighting on unoccupied floors, illuminated interior plants or fountains, and lights with color temperature over 3,000 Kelvin
The decorative building lights on the face of the square will join the Lights Out efforts and go dark at 11 p.m. during this time.
