MEET ROTARIAN MARGARET GRIFFIN
ABOUT MARGARET
Margaret is a Texan by birth in Houston growing up in Shreveport and Alexandria, Louisiana. She attended LSU and taught elementary school for 8 years, one year in Germany with the Army Dependent Corps. She received her Master’s degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana and her doctoral degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia., double majoring in Reading and Psychology. Having taught for 5 years at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, she wrote her own job description and was employed at Texas Woman’s University for 26 years before retirement in 2000. Margaret was invited to join the Rotary Club of Denton in 1991 as the 6th woman member. She is now the longest serving woman member in the club-- thirty nine years as a teacher educator in Reading and 31 years as a Rotarian!

The original Rotary Club was organized in Chicago, Illinois, by Paul P. Harris, a lawyer. It first met February 23, 1905.
