Presenter Bios:
Lauren Ames Fischer, PhD., is an assistant professor of urban policy and planning at the University of North Texas and associate director of UNT’s Advanced Environmental Research Institute, one of the university’s four research centers of excellence. Trained as an interdisciplinary scholar, she has extensive experience working with local government practitioners and policymakers on issues related to sustainable infrastructure and development. Dr. Fischer holds a doctorate in Urban Planning from Columbia University, where she also completed a fellowship in the Fu Foundation School of Engineering. She has lived with her family in Denton since 2019.

Kelly Hibbeler Albus, Ph.D., is an extension program specialist III with the Urban WISH team at the Texas A&M AgriLife Center at Dallas. She is an expert in citizen science with a focus on broadening engagement in environmental issues through innovative education initiatives. Kelly strives to bring new perspectives and ideas to the management of shared water resources through her work with diverse groups from universities, K-12 schools, community colleges, grassroots organizations, citizen science programs, informal education centers and many others throughout the state.
