Rise Against Hunger. Team Leader: Naomi Meyer. To increase our impact, we are partnering with Denton-Lake Cities Rotary Club for a Rise Against Hunger meal packing event in early 2024. Your entire family can participate in this event. We will be packing more than10,000 meals. Families, interactors and Rotaractors will learn about how Rotary supports organizations that feed people in remote areas and conflict zones around the world. Rise Against Hunger targets remote, last-mile communities within hunger pockets designated “serious” or higher on the Global Hunger Index, which are the hardest places to reach and are often difficult to access, lack communication and have poor infrastructure.
ShelterBox. Our club’s ShelterBox Ambassador is Debi Cook. Trained by ShelterBox, you can volunteer to help her spread the word about ShelterBox in the Denton community. Debi has several events planned including setting up an actual ShelterBox temporary home at one of our Social Events and working in the ShelterBox booth at the 2024 District 5790 PETS Conference.ShelterBox exists to ensure no one is without shelter after disaster. They often work in places that others don’t, making sure that they reach families who need support to take the next step in resuming their livelihoods. ShelterBox was started by Rotarians.
