Denton Rotary presents Explorium Denton with a $3000 grant for Digital Literacy.

Explorium Denton, Executive Director, Dinora Padilla accepts the big check for $3000.

Through this grant our purpose is to provide opportunities for children to become skilled in digital literacy skills in their primary school years at Explorium Denton. The way we will do this is by purchasing materials that will allow students and their families to learn and practice coding, programming, gaming and technology, and other digital literacy skills through programs and events at the Explorium. The funds from this grant will be used to purchase 16 student computers, 16 headphones, 16 mice, 1 teacher computer, one time lifetime purchase of Microsoft Office, Minecraft Educational Edition, and Code Monkey program for each device. This hardware and software are needed for learning important 21st century digital literacy skills. Digital literacy skills are now a basic and crucially important part of education but often not taught in schools. Our goal is to increase digital literacy opportunities for the families of Denton County throughout the whole year.
