From Karen McDaniels: I was approached by the Communications Director who is responsible for the Rotary Pavilion at COP 28 that is going on now in Dubai. This is only the 3rd year RI has been invited to be a part of COP. I was asked to submit a video about the global grant we did in Costa Rica in 2018 for the Dec 4 program on Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality.

Last week, the United Nations was holding their Climate Change Conference (COP 28) in Dubai UAE. Every day, at the Rotary International Pavilion, Rotary is featuring one topic that focuses on the environment. December 4 was a focus in Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality, and a video of Denton Rotary’s Global Grant “An Eco Tourism Business for Rural Women in Costa Rica” was the feature at 3PM.
Denton Rotary launched this global in 2018 and, completed it in 2021. The video is about how our global grant empowered rural women in Costa Rica to create RETUS Tours. It features Rosa, a RETUS Tour guide and Miriam, a RETUS chef who teaches tour groups how to make artisan tortillas. Click this link to view it: https://youtu.be/cpJ8AninncM .
