Join us this week as we hear from Cameron Robertson (Denton’s New Historic Preservation Officer).
Topic: A Brief Overview of Current & Ongoing Historic Preservation Initiatives.
Cameron Robertson is the Historic Preservation Officer for the City of Denton, TX. Before arriving in Denton, Cameron worked as a Planner and Historic Preservation Specialist at an environmental engineering consulting firm in New York City whose clients include the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, Brookfield Properties, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, New York City Department of Planning, the Federal Aviation Administration, and more.

Cameron holds a BS in Civil Engineering from George Washington University and a dual MS in Urban Planning and Historic Preservation from Columbia University. She enjoys using her experience in design, research, and planning to help communities prepare for the future.

Cameron was previously on the board of the Metropolitan Chapter of the Victorian Society in America, one of the oldest chapters in the country dedicated to fostering appreciation and preservation of our nineteenth and early-twentieth century heritage. She also co-created a study for the Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia published by the World Monuments Fund.

In addition to her work, Cameron has moderated virtual panels for the American Planning Association’s New York Metro Chapter and spoken at NYC preservation conferences.

When she isn’t creating content for Preserve Denton or reviewing City ordinances, Cameron enjoys exploring new hiking paths around North Texas and taking day trips to explore small-town Main Streets.
