Olivia Jane Barhorst, MNLM, gave her classification talk to complete her final step to move from red to blue badge. Olivia is from Piqua, OH where she proudly worked for Hartzell Propeller on her summer breaks from college, along with most of her family! Hartzell Propeller made airplane propellers for the Wright Brothers as they began their quest for flight.

Olivia attended Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and thought she would pursue law school until an internship made her realize that was not for her. She then decided through an internship with Make-A-Wish that nonprofit fundraising was the best move for her career.

In her undergrad, she volunteered with many nonprofits including Make-A-Wish, Habitat for Humanity, Dance Marathon, Bike for Tikes, Children's Miracle Network, United Way, and many more. After graduation she worked at the American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish, Bittersweet Farms, National Alliance on Mental Illness, and United Way of Greater Toledo. She earned her Masters in Nonprofit Leadership and Executive Management degree online from Arizona State University.

She was honored to get the opportunity to move to Denton, Texas, to become Director of Marketing and Development at Denton County Friends of the Family. Olivia is also working on beginning a chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Denton as well as studying to take her exam to receive her certificate as a Certified Fundraising Executive or CFRE. In her spare time, she loves hanging out with her cat, Smokey, exploring Denton, reading, and staying active.

Reach out to her to introduce her to a new place in the area she needs to visit!
