Loveland Rotary Scholarships
LOVELAND ROTARY SCHOLARSHIPS
General Information for Students and Donors
Loveland Rotary has a special emphasis on supporting youth and one of our major projects in this area is scholarships. Each year the Loveland Rotary Club provides various scholarships for both academic and vocational programs.
Our Loveland Rotary scholarships are open to all seniors in the Thompson School District.
Since 1977, Loveland Rotary Club has awarded more than 200 scholarships, totaling nearly $1,000,000. Our scholarships reach students embarking on Art; Music; Academic, 4 year; and Vocational, 2 year college/trade school programs.
Thanks to the efforts and generosity of all involved, the program is expanding. We provide more than $100,000 in scholarships annually.
Many of these scholarships are funded by individual Rotarians in addition to the general club scholarships.
If you are you interested in scholarships you can:
- Contribute money to the scholarship fund. You can even set up you own scholarship that matches your interests.

Some Factors when Considering Loveland Rotary Scholarships:
Please note that many Loveland Rotary scholarships look at factors well beyond grade point average and academic success, so students need to read about each scholarship to see if it might be a good fit for them.
- Academic Scholarships – Student grade point average, class ranking, and standardized test scores (ACT and SAT) will all be considered when evaluating these scholarship applicants. In addition, the rigor of each students program will have an influence on the final decision for scholarship. AP and or IB classes will be considered when evaluating rigor.
- Computer and Technical Education (CTE) Scholarships – These are for what used to be called vocational education, including things like auto services, welding, nursing, etc. If you are interested in a 2-year community college program or other education providers of this type, look into these scholarships. Be sure to note how this education will help you grow and succeed in your future. These scholarships are not based soley on GPA or success in high school, but instead are decided by career plans, obstacles overcome, and vision for the future.
- Financial Need – Both the family income and the ability to finance a student will be components for judging financial need. Factors such as the number of children in the family, the health of the family members, and other family stressors will be factored into a final decision.
- Community and School Involvement – Rotary is interested in students who are involved in school and community projects. With the Rotary motto of Service Above Self, involvement is an important issue for Rotarians. (Remember to mention your Interact participation.)
- Leadership – Rotarians desire to help the leaders of tomorrow through the scholarship program. Students need to show that they are developing leadership skills.
- Positive Rotary Ambassador – Ethical behavior representing Rotary is mandatory. A Rotary scholar must show that they live The Four Way Test and represent the high standards set by Rotary International.

Past Scholarship Winners
On Jan, 2,2024, Laura Armstrong invited past scholarship winners to talk to our club about where they are currently, where they are going and what their scholarship means for them. Ten past scholarship winners were able to attend and share their stories in January of 2024.

Above is a photo of them as they were speaking to the club plus one winner who was on Zoom. From left to right – meet these scholarship winners and see some other information about each of them.
